He seems like a nice man. I like the fact that he doesn't govern by polls like other politicians have.

I thought you'd say that. I guess character doesn't matter. Since I take it that you are a "woman", can you honestly defend a cheating mans' character? I'm sorry but my friends who cheat on their wives do not have my trust. How do you trust a man who breaks the most important vow in their life?

Personally I couldn't care less what they do in their private lives as long as it doesn't affect the job that they perform in their public life.
On the Bush "Yay or Nay", personally it's a nay, but for his politics only. I've never met him, so for all I know he's a nice enough guy, just don't like his polictics.

It did affect the job as we sort of launched cruise missiles to throw off the attention of the American people. If you can't trust a man to be honest to his wife how do you expect him to be honest with the rest of us?

Quite simply in that if the media weren't interested in reporting every sordid affair that anyone in public life has, then there wouldn't be any need for said person to do anything to take peoples attention away from said affair, allowing them to concentrate on what they're supposed to be doing, i.e. running the country.

Agreed. Just like Spain sided with the French and helped us out and then when the Brits sent an ultimatum to the Hague, that got the Hague to side with Americans.

Then the British found themselves Diplomatically isolated from the rest of the World by the year 1783 and thus the Treaty of Paris of 1783 that ended the American Revolution.

Y'know, I'm probably more patriotic than most people here, but I have to point out a few things.

1. It wasn't really a massacre. Rather, A bunch of Angry Bostonians(Yay Boston!) got pissed off at some British guards and threw rocks, snowballs, sticks, bricks, etc at them. Then, after one of the Brits gets ouchie boo-boo, they begin to fight back. The Bostonians run away(smart thing to do, actually).

2. The Taxes weren't that harsh. It would have been equal to paying an extra cent on a $20 book. It was the principle that got people pissed off.

3. Colonies don't HAVE self-governing bodies! They are COLONIES. Not Provinces, states, Oblasts, etc., they are COLONIES!

Y'know, I'm probably more patriotic than most people here, but I have to point out a few things.

I'm probably more patriotic than you but then, I try to keep it on the low key.

Here I will disagree. It may not, in reality be a massacre, but civilians did die so it probably was a massacre at that time and the name stuck ever since. As for the soldiers, someone, no one knows who, shouted fire and the soldiers fired into the crowd killing like 5 Bostonians.

2. The Taxes weren't that harsh. It would have been equal to paying an extra cent on a $20 book. It was the principle that got people pissed off.

At the time, they were harsh. Remember that most people at the time were poor farmers. Industry was there yea but not to such an extent to keep people from being poor. Most people at the time, as I said, were farmers and they didn't have much money either. Paying taxes on everything from Tea to Stamps to Sugar at that time? No Taxation without Representation. The Taxes in reality, violated the Charters of the Colonies.

3. Colonies don't HAVE self-governing bodies! They are COLONIES. Not Provinces, states, Oblasts, etc., they are COLONIES!

However, they had state assemblies which were self-governing. Many of these were disbanded. Also, the King Prohibited the formation of a self-governing body to handle the domestic affairs of the Colonies. If he had just allowed us to do so, I don't think there would've been a massive revolt.

Like when?
if i felt like typing all day, i would. but here is one example. we have service men on court martial right now because they exposed interrogating people on film. thats classified military business, and common tactics used by every army in this world and now they have to be charged with abuse to shut everyone up-

I love this guy with a passion.

Oh, and as for Bush, it's a nay. He is a silly slobbering monkey-man with appalling politics, an even worse dress sense, a endless falabilities regarding running a country hell bent on stopping terrorism. Oh, and he manages to rig elections by installing fear into the electorate so they see they have no other choice. And I don't need to have met him to say that were I to, I would have a strong urge to stuff his tongue down his pathetic rich-kid throat and make him apologise for every single death in Iraq. Twice.
make the iraquis apologize for killing their people. dress sense? is that what you other worlders elect officials based on? figures.

Ah well. I don't see YOU putting your life in danger for you country.

No, it was never PROVED that someone yelled "Fire". However, the most credible idea in the Historical Community is that the rioters were yelling "Fire". It was proven on Discovery Channel that it would have been impossible for the British Commander to order his men to fire due to all the noise. What prolly happened was that one British Soldier fired, and the rest followed.

Yes, but most taxes were gone by 1773. The only one left was the Tea tax. And about 90% of the Colonists didn't even drink tea on a regular basis. It was mainly a drink for the rich. It was a miniscule tax, EXTREMELY small.

However, they had state assemblies which were self-governing. Many of these were disbanded. Also, the King Prohibited the formation of a self-governing body to handle the domestic affairs of the Colonies. If he had just allowed us to do so, I don't think there would've been a massive revolt.

Yes, but colonies don't HAVE to be self-governing. Throughout history, most Colonies were run by people slected by the King. Did the Canadians elect their colonial leaders? Did the inhabitants of New Spain? Of South America? Of India? Of Australia?

Of course, they did AFTER they became free, but thats a different story.

He seems like a nice man. I like the fact that he doesn't govern by polls like other politicians have.

I'd have a beer with him and chop some wood with him (if I had my limbs).
That sounds fair i still think hes better than Gore or Kerry so he won by Default.

Ah well. I don't see YOU putting your life in danger for you country.

I have spent my entire life around the military. I know what our soldiers go through for training and how it is to have a loved one overseas. My mother served 6 years in the Service and my father is still in the service and is currently overseas doing his duty that his country called upon him to do. I have done alot on the homefront by supporting our soldiers and praying for them. Most of my family has served in the military in one branch or another. I'm not going to list them but I have had a family member in all FOUR branches of the service. I may not be going into the military but that makes no less patriotic than those that are. Don't you ever say anything about it again to me because the next time, I won't be as leninent as I am being right now.

No, it was never PROVED that someone yelled "Fire". However, the most credible idea in the Historical Community is that the rioters were yelling "Fire". No one proved that it wasn't said either. Its a moot point anyway.

Maybe gone by 1773 but then, most of the taxes were illegal under the colonial charters.

Yes, but colonies don't HAVE to be self-governing. Throughout history, most Colonies were run by people slected by the King. Did the Canadians elect their colonial leaders? Did the inhabitants of New Spain? Of South America? Of India? Of Australia?

Your right they don't have to be but when a charter authorizes representative government and then has it stripped, don't you think that'll piss people off?

Of course, they did AFTER they became free, but thats a different story.

Your right it is a different story

I must say that I support our president - I don't see how anyone could avoid doing so. He's leading the nation in the right direction, the liberal socialist activist suckups have been checkmated once again, and Europe hates him (which means I like him).

There are one or two things I don't like about his policies, however (Iraq is not one of them); I don't support the American Gestapo (i.e., Homeland Security) which has come into play under George Bush - sure, the Secret Service has been around a long time, but not like this!

But, all in all, I think the guy's a good leader.

P.S. As to my having a beer with him, I'd much prefer some Riesling wine. :D

Pardon me for butting in, but it is very likely that the rioters were shouting "fire!" - I'd stake my reputation on the possibility that one of the soldiers either slipped and shot of his gun by mistake, or was extremely nervous and didn't heed the order of his superior; this would obviously excite the troops and get them to fire.

well, i think he's a stupid, illiterate puppet, tied to the strings of the oil companys, who can't think for himself when he's not attached to a mike, a complete republican asshat, who enjoys listening to the speeches of dumb southern bible bashers who think: being black, homosexual or of a different religion is evil. And therefore i dislike him. And he cannot do any public speaking to save his life.

Also, he rigs elections. A lot.

Nay, on many issues.
A few things he could do to seem like a nicer person:

-Have the whole westboro babtist chruch arrested and put in those nice cages on guantanamo.
-Learn how to speak properly, or atleast how to read from a pre-written speach.
-Realise that politics and religion doesn't go hand in hand.
-Let women decide over their own bodies.
-Let people express their love in marriage no matter their sexuality.
-Learn that there are countrys outside of the U.S. and that all people are of equal value, no matter where you're born, your race or gender.
-Stop being a war mongering fundamentalist christian gun-nut.

But hey, I don't live in the states, you guys elected him, you can deal with him too, not my problem.
Peace :)
