Black-and-white vs. Grey

Many people have black and white mentalities. They think that there is a set reality of right and wrong, and is a set-in-stone all-encompassing and/or supernatural standard of good and evil, black and white, right and wrong. When it comes to religion, one of those religions is right. The rest aren't doing it right.

Others have grey mentalities. They believe that everything, what we see as right and wrong are based on ourselves and perception. Everything that we believe, what reality is, is really based on our minds. When it comes to religion, there are many right choices. It all depends.

What are you?

See if you can guess what I am by reading a statement I composed that best describes my mentality:

Think more about what is doing the thinking, not what you want to think about. You will think a lot clearer that way. Don't continue talking about what you believe when you argue, talk about WHY you believe it. If the explanation of why you believe it is something else that is something you believe and is not universally known, there is no proving right or wrong.

Another thing popped up in my head that was quite odd.
If one is a grey person, and believes that black-and-white mentalities are wrong, he himself is a black and white person because he is believing in one right way and one wrong way.

However, I think that is the one exeption to the rule.

You are as blackhearted as they come. Do I get a cookie now?

Circumstancial. When I deal with philosophical absolutes, there is no area in between. If I want to discuss the fundamental qualities of any concept, then there is no grey. But in practical conditions, black and white views are about as reasonable as believing that humans only come in black and white.

let me ask us this:

do you believe that there is one true religion (whether it be yours or not)?

or do you believe that there are many good religions, if they have good intentions, are fine.

or, do you just believe that religions are stupid and only cause problems in the world?

I believe that you can't prove it any of those ways. It could be one, it could be another.

That sums me up right there, I think.

There is no truth beyond boundaries. Grey doesn't state my mentality clearly enough, add the whole visable light spectrum. ;) Every circumstance in its own right. There is no 'true' religion, only 'true' people.

I'm not so much Grey as I am Gray. but sometimes its better to take one side, others it's better to not have a side at all.

No! Grey is the true spelling, "gray" is an abomination!
