Gang steals mate from own funeral

MONGREL Mob member Alfie Parker couldn't make it to the tough Kiwi gang's party last week - he was dead - so his fellow gangsters abducted him from his own funeral.
The gang members drove him across suburban Wellington and made him guest of honour at the celebration.
The dead man's family was horrified, as they had just begun the traditional Maori mourning ritual in which the body lies in state over several days at a marae, or tribal meeting house.
Several Mongrel Mob members arrived at the Te Mangungu marae last Thursday as Maori elders and family members grieved around the coffin of Parker, 38, a fully initiated gang member who was known to police for drugs and other offences.
Parker died the previous day of serious head injuries suffered in a fall, which a post-mortem inquiry attributed to the influence of medication he was taking for an undisclosed terminal illness.
Up to 30 mobsters "stormed on to the marae, wearing boots, swearing and drinking beer" in a major affront to the protocol of behaviour on a marae, one relative said in a letter to a Wellington newspaper.
The mobsters and Parker were all members of the Mongrel Mob's nomadic Rogues chapter, which makes most of its money from manufacturing and selling methamphetamine.
"They took him to a nearby pad and held - I wouldn't call it a party, more of a wake," said Wellington police gang intelligence officer John Goodard.
"It certainly wasn't a ragey party because there was very little noise and not too many vehicles out the front," Senior Constable Goddard said.
"We didn't get any complaints from the neighbours."
Damned Mongrels! LOL At least the neighbours didn't complain!
