Which do you prefer...

Do you think there is a difference between hot, cute, pretty, handsome, and beautiful? If you do which do you prefer (if you were to ignore personality)?

(I tried to include enough options so both genders can vote)

"Beauty" ( and presumptively, "hot, cute, pretty" and "handsome" ) is in the eye of the beholder.

BTW ... you didn't include intellect or personality, which IMHO, are far more important that the ones you did include. :)

i'd rather have someone i consider beautiful, hot people are just kind athere to rub one off to, but you can't really have. Beautiful people Captiveate you and hold on to you.

I know. That was intentional. That poll might come later.

This was on ESPN's Bill Simmon's page a while back...

"Gorgeous" = Beautiful
"Beautiful" = Hot
"Hot" = Cute
"Pretty" = Alright
"Nice Face" = Bad Body
"Cute" = Brutal
"Alright" = Train Wreck
"One of the Nicest People I've Ever Met" = Probably disfigured
"Very, Very Cool" = Missing a limb
"Good Personality" = Morbidly obese/drug addict

Hot for your legs, chest, and ass.

Cute for face.

And pretty... just for the hell of it.

Oh yeah and to nullify it all, who cares as long as I get some.

That stuff was intentionally left out. That poll may come later though.

I picked "doesn't matter" because I don't consciously think "Hmm, I think cute girls are the most attractive, but I have a soft spot for pretty girls" etc.

I don't see a whole lot of difference between some of the options :/

Beauty, as it can be applied past the external, and is 'in the eye of the beholder'.

Indeed, personal definitions of the words will vary also.

Exactly, it's a totally subjective opinion.

There's gotta be a minimum level of attractiveness, but after that, it's more about how well she can manage a household, how sociable, intelligent, loyal, she is, etc. Looks are no more than 50-60%.

Although someone you love will look good no matter what. Example: this is my GF (whom I plan to marry:D) and I think she is the most gorgeous girl ever:D

true. i have met some guys that werent all THAT attractive at first, but once i got talking to them, they became very very good looking. or perhaps i was drinking?? okay thats pretty bad. but, i think we all have those basic characteristics that are a must have to be actually attracted to the individual. mine are height, long hair, quietness, etc

Beauty, as it can be applied past the external, and is 'in the eye of the beholder'.
Even externally. See, your own tastes, or those of any given observer, will dictate what features you find attractive. Taking cues from the poll and for the moment removing personality from the equation (though I'm not sure doing that makes sense. I suppose the question has to do with the difference between love, lust and asthetic sense) I'll say that I like redheads (and stuff the stereotypes) and blondes, really quite like freckles (wish I had some, geneticly[sp?] here) and go for mildly skinny girls. Thus I might rate, on a scale determined by beauty physical alone (getting well into chauvenism now...) I might rate a lass with freckles sprinkled across her nose and cheeks over someone with a clear complexion. Of course, now I won't strain against my sense of romance any longer, I'll pay more attention to whoever's the humorous philosopher regardless, or hope I will.

Congratulations Branin, have you asked her yet?

He said intending to. He referred to her as his girlfriend, not fiancée.

Yeah, I'm not really attracted to any particular physical characteristics that I know of, but I agree with Pepe Dominguez in that there is a base attractiveness level after which point the internal is the principal thing.

Not officially. I don't have her parents permission yet, and I want to do this the right way. But we have talked about it alot, and have agreed it what we want. We are just waiting until the right time.:D:D
