WH40K, Star Wars, Star Trek: The FINAL POLL
The Abomination

Alright, this is for all those who have been debating on the Star Wars vs WH40K vs Star Trek thread.
The battle has been long and bitter. Back and forth it has been waged, devastating worlds, annihilating stars and making the very fabric of the universe as tattered as the bottom of my hippy brothers baggy jeans.
And that was just on the thread itself.
So... finally.... who's the daddy?

Come on! Get a life!
40K's been created in a game with bad writers.
ST shows humans like we're the top notch of the universe and all other races are nothing but [CENSORED].
And finally SW world is based simply on few movies (that have copied most of the nice scenes from really good movies like the 2001) and some kind of books. How could it have a really working and beautiful universe?

Though I'm a trekkie.
WH40k would definitely own by the madness of it.

40k would totalyl kill all! Ultramarines by themselves could kill ST :mp5: . I might take all the other SMs and some necrons/tau or something could take SW :sniper: . If we included Babylon5 the shadows, vorlons, first ones, mimbari could kick @$$ :gundge: . And yes we do need to get outside and do something. :p

as far as working universes go, it's all about the details the authors go to. Some films have it, some don't.
Like Reign of Fire. Didn't have it. The Dark Crystal? You'd be surprised to find out just how many of the throw away lines in the film are based on full histories that Jim Hensen (and his art director) created.
Starwars has always had it's depth. It has a history. I don't care for any of the novels, however. And admittedly, the new films aren't nearly as good as the old ones. Saying the universe isn't consistant because its a film is really unfair. Especially since it comes to six films this year.
Star trek has it's depth aswell. I don't know, my biggest complaint is how they throw around "Sci-fi language" as if they knew what it meant (more in voyager than any of the others) IF they had done their research, they'd know how unstable anti-matter is, and how bombarding a person with it will not only cure his cancer, but blow up the ship too.
W40k has a universe. It's made for a game, and it feels like it. It isn't internally inconsistant, but most of the history reads like writing notes- everything from the codecies are histories. That makes sense, since the purpose behind making thier universe is so that we can make your own stories from it (in game form) rather than reading someone else's.
Now I haven't read much in the way of 40k fiction (it hasn't really interested me) I did read the first few lines of Chaos Child, and found myself putting the book back on the shelf pretty quick.
