Talking to yourself?

Neo-Anarchists

Do you talk to yourself?

Also, if you do, do you hold two sides of a conversation, or just talk?

I, personally, almost always talk to myself. I hold both sides of the conversation, which seems a bit odd now thta I think of it, especially because of the way it happens.

ummmmmmmm.....yes

off topic.... Talking to inanimate objects in not inherhently a problem. It is when they start talking back that you are in trouble.

It's even more of a problem when the inanimate objects are in league and out to get you, too.

i am guilty of this. big time. i hold both sides of the dialogue, often. what is disturbing though, is i am apparently, according to several friends, developing a sing song tone when i do this. they say it's really annoying, and, upon furrther examination, psycotic sounding. i dont think i am getting married ever.

Some of my psychiatrically-inclined friends say I sometimes show symptoms of DID with the whole self-talk thing and some other odd things that happen to me. I say who the hell cares, I'm taking enough medication anyway, and it's not like I'll kill somebody or something.

Yes, both sides, all the time. I have no other company. 8)

I usually refer to myself as "we". Is that unusual? Long ago, I decided to claim that I was no longer human but an entity. After all, I already had my own "-ism," according to some friends.

I suppose this is in the wrong thread.

I hold up both ends of the conversation. It usually ends as an exchange like this:

1--"stop talking to yourself, moron."
2--"what did you say?"
1--"you heard me!"
2--"fine, beeyotch, have it your way!"
1--"shut up!"
2--"you shut up!"
3--"will you both just shut the hell up?!"
1--*silence*
2--*cricket chirping in the distance*
3--"thank you."
1--*grumbles* "condescending little..."

Ritalin for my lack of an attention span, although I'm tapering off it at the moment, as it's not really helping me at the moment. And no, i'm not snorting it or anything.

Wellbutrin, for depression.

Lithium, for mood stabilisation, but my psychiatrist is looking to find something better.

I may be taking Seroquel soon to see if that will help any. I'm also trying to get my hands on some sort of sedative for my sleep problems, but first I have to go in for a few sleep studies.

I found Lamictal a better mood stabilizer, and it doesn't have the nasty side effects of lithium. Plus you don't have to get the blood tests all the time. Ask your shrink what he thinks. I hated Seroquel, (For sleep) Trazadone worked okay for quite a while, but now I take Ambien. Not often, or I wouldn't be online at this hour. If your happy(no pun intended) with Wellbutrin right now, great. I also know a lot of people who think Effexor works really well, though it wasn't for me.
None of this has kept me from talking to myself, answering back, or talking to inanimate objects. I guess there's only so much psychotropic meds can do. Oh, well.

so were starting the lpsg? well i'll get started then. The details of my life are quite inconsequential.... very well, where do i begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

sorry, i couldnt resist. but in all seriousness, i am bryce and i am not talked to, 'cept for here on the threads.

eh, I tend not to hold conversations with myself out loud (but mainly that's because everyone I live with would think there's something wrong, which isn't something I want to project. Also, I'm deeeeeply paranoid at discussing my personal life (emotions, experience, etc.) and keep thinking someone else might hear, so I stay quiet. I hold the conversations in my head, mind, usually when I'm spending the few hours necessary awake attempting to get some sleep. I'd say it counts, though.
For some reason this paranoia doesn't apply over a computer...

Sometimes, here and there. Though I try not to, I do it automatically sometimes. In private always.

Sometimes I envision how a conversation should/would/could go in my head, and end up speaking the parts where I'm supposed to talk....
