Yeah. But I think we've still got the monopoly on naked Iraqi dogpiles and filming hot and steamy prison three-ways in front of the inmates.

Wow and the US has only charged like one or two people so far right?

Why did you have to centre this on America? You didn't sympathise with the prisoners. You barely condemned the actions of the Danish troops involved. You just used this as a cheap justification for the actions of American troops.

How would you know? You don't even know him. I don't know him. He had full right to post this. As for using this as a cheap excuse, I don't think it is. I condemned the action of our troops and am glad that they are beginning to get punished.

Apparently these people will be punished too.

well since they did it we can do it too! It makes America right dammit! We're RIGHT! The prisoners are the ones who are wrong, for being abused in the first place. Or ... um, something.

Actually charged abit more than 2 but I don't have the numbers infront of me.

What is a roundabout figure? I only remember the recent trial of 1 person. My brain is on strike.

So far it is only one that has been tried. The other trials are/will be taking place.

As for a round about figure, I think it is in the double digits, 10 I think. I'm not sure. I'll look it up.

My point was that there was no need to say "Goes to show that the US wasn't the only nation involved in this scandal." If I had posted that and said "goes to show that Britain isn't the only country involved", someone would probably have had a go at me.

I apologise if I went over the top, but I just don't like the assumption that people think America is to blame for everything, and I think he assumed that.

Christ, I could have made that point a bit better. Meh, I'm not particularly lucid at the moment.

I don't see how the Danish abuses can be used to justify what went on at Abu Gahrib.

From the article:
"Army investigators said Hommel and the other soldiers subjected Iraqi prisoners to ill-treatment including verbal humiliation, forcing them to maintain painful postures, and restricting access to food, water and toilets."

Meanwhile, our boys and girls made prisoners strip, staged sex acts between them, put gatorclips on them and told them they would be electrocuted, filmed their sexcapades in the jail, and--oh, yeah--killed a prisoner in interrogation.

What the Danes did was bad, but we're not "in this together." For one thing, they're already disciplining their people.

6 people were originally charged but it is up to 14 at this printing that have been charged or reprimanded!

Nice article though!

I know I wouldn't because I know who was involved. I didn't know about the Danes though but the British and American Troops I did know about!

Hey no problem and I apologize too for going off. I have had a very bad week and it is starting to spill over into other aspects of my life.

Christ, I could have made that point a bit better. Meh, I'm not particularly lucid at the moment.

Ah, but we are the only country to charge AND convict one of our own with anything to do with the Oil for Food scandal. Not seeing the french or the UN doing any serious investigations there are you?

Dunno, not following it. ALthough this is off topic, how do you know their investigations into it aren't serious? Are you on some international legal team?

My thought was that with all of the troops we have there I thought there were only like 1 or 2 people being charged and I KNEW there were way more than that with a hand in teh abuse. WHile the Danish dont have hardly anybody there adn they were already chargin 5 of theirs. So I was commending them for doing so.

But Corny gave me the update and so I stand corrected.

A little defensive aren't we AB?

Heh, not really. But when the rest of the world points at AG and whines about it, I like to shove the rest of the world's faults into their face. And if you were reading the news about it you would know the UN has decided to go for a near complete whitewash, and the French really haven't done anything.

Who's news are you reading? Please don't say FOX.

What is the UN's whitewash position? What was the US's conclusion about the UN's part? Link to your news?

Well well, my my. Where's that spunky EU and UK rubbing of American noses in Abu Grabass? Huh?

Well I was listening to an NPR report on the subject on the way home and torture of POWs is widespread in every war, but the whole homoerotic twist is a new facet with this conflict in Iraq. There were tons of reports from Iraqis that this has been wide spread from coalition forces since the invasion, but they were discounted, at least until the pictures became public. Now all the Arabs think all Americans and British solders are Gays into S&M.

Bottom line? Don't join the Army unless stripping men and making them simulate homosexual activity is your thing.

We'll pay the price for this when Johnny comes marching home bent mentally from carrying out illegal orders.
