There was an anti-gay demonstration held in my area recently by a Baptist church. People were holding up signs with stupid slogans on them. The funniest thing was, about half the group were holding signs that said "Jesus teaches love, not hate!"

They should read their own signs...

Ah yes, the hypocracies of the bapitist protestors. The old signs dragged out that say "God hates fags" etc. Rather sad really...

You would think they would consider a famous 33 year old man who , according to a famous holy book was not married, had never been married , traveled in the company of an all male group and was clearly therefore a shirtlifter.

Actually what you might have seen was in 'in-house' counter protest.

Another problem is: The VIRGIN Mary is supposed to have given birth to jesus, but she has a HUSBAND. Please explain to me why they didn't consumate their marrige, as I beleive they are allowed to.

Actually what you might have seen was in 'in-house' counter protest.
They seemed to be one coherent group, but I didn't watch for long.

You should have made a banner with a picture of goatse on it and the words, "look what they did to me" then joined the protest.

She was not married to Josef, she was promised (i.e. engaged) to him when she got pregnant. Josef intented to abandon her, for she obviously had not been faithful, when an angel told him not to, and that she was not pregnant of a man but of God. Jesus was Mary's first child, but later she and Josef had loads of normal children (Jesus has a bunch of brothers, many named in the Bible as well and also sisters who aren't named), so obviously she wasn't a Virgin through her life, which is not claimed to be so anywhere in the Bible either. The title Virgin Mary is an honorary title, how she was pure when God used her to bring to life His only Son.

It must've been incredibly painful... i mean, women have a sort of skin lining that is broken when they lose their virginity... and that's meant to hurt... so imagine the pain of the baby and the skin line breaking...

I thought they actually had to, to make the marriage valid.

ah, but the point still stands... they really should have read their own signs, and they could have noticed the counter-protest, if that was what it was... segregated into ranks, with the fifth row holding their sign straight up, the fourth at a 45 degree angle, and the front three rows holding their signs straight out, then engaged in some ancient Greek phalanx combat.... I may have been playing too much Rome, but you gotta admit walking down a street, and seeing two protest groups engaging in a phalanx battle with their picket signs would be utterly priceless.


On to the topic however. I do think it was probably a counter-protest. Surely no-one could be quite that stupid... surely?
