Two neighbors, one Catholic ( Joe ) and one Jewish ( Ian ), were fast friends but had a friendly rivalry over the successes of their children. One day the Catholic comes to his friend's house all excited.

Joe: Ian! Guess what! My youngest son was just accepted into the priesthood!

Ian: So what's such a big deal with that?

Joe: Well, as a Priest, he could someday become a Bshiop!

Ian: So?

Joe: Then, if he does a good job as Bishop, he could one day become a Cardinal!

Ian: Cardinal sounds like some kind of bird. Why are you so excited about that?

Joe: Don't you understand? One day he might even become Pope!!

Ian: And this is something good? There have been many, many Popes.

Joe: What would you have him do then, become Jesus Christ???

Iah: [ with eloquent shrug ] Why not? One of our boys made it.
