My ideal heaven would be a dystopia. Not the common version, but the one like a utopia, except where you don't have to be part of the common utopian community. You can come and go and do as you please without having to worry about anything other than yourself. It's an essentially impossible dream, but then this is heaven we're talking about, no?

As for oblivion... no way. The thought of me ceasing scares me too much to contemplate. (I tried once. Stopped fairly quickly.)

Mine would be a big spongey city where everyone and everything is flamable. Also it gets repaired everynight, and all the cars have personalities.

Mine would be John Howard having to clean my house for a small amount of shrapnel in my back pocket.

I'm an outdoorsy type animal lover kinda person, so I would love a beautiful grassy meadow where it's always warm and sunny and all the critters are friendly. Except then we'd all have to eat grass. Maybe nobody would eat anything. And all the people are friendly and like UpwardThrust said there'd be partying and lots of sex. And pot. And alcohol. But no bad effects from any of it. Gosh this is starting to sound more like hell!

Something designed by someone better at design than me, although some sort of tropical island with lots of nice people, beach bodies, fruit would be good, especially if there was an air-conditioned building somewhere...

On a hill overlooking a river that meets the sea. A sandy peninsula protecting the water, so it's always calm. An island off the coast that I can kayak out to to go fishing or collecting shell fish. Temperate and sub-tropical of course.
Lots of native trees surrounding the place, so I'm always woken up to native birds in the morning.

I actually did live in a place like this a few years ago. My main aim in life is saving enough money to buy a property there to retire to.

Was Vallhalla supposed to be a place where you fight all day and party with Valkyries all night? If so I pick that one.

Possibly college sans classes. Those are about the only thing I don't like.

Idea or Ideal?

Ideal, A hammock on a sunny beach, with a caipirinha, and a gentle breeze.

great hair days, spa treatments every day from handsome buff men. eating and drinking without gaining weight. gossping all evening about people who arent there. all the luxuries i cant be bothered with right now......

I remember the day that I stopped dying and started living. I wouldn't want an afterlife, but I'd certainly be interested in being reincarnated as a parrot. I like nuts and seeds, but they're hard on my stomach, you see. Just once I'd like to be able to eat the delicious things without turning my ass into an air cannon.

However, I promise you this: nothing cool happens after you die. However, you could do something cool before you die, you know, like sign on as an organ donor. Don't be so possessive. You won't need them anymore.

Life in the presence of my Creator and Redeemer, lived in harmony with the rest of creation.

A world where people listened as much as they spoke.

Here in CT, you can't drive 20 miles without hitting one. Much less in Fairfield, Hartford and New Haven counties...

Pretty much like life on Earth, except without all the death and tragedy, and people are far less short-sighted and learn from their mistakes.

And Family Guy never gets cancelled.

Heaven would be a place where I could do magic.

Everybodies stuck inside a giant dungeon with swords,axes armours and stuff..

And I'm the Gamemaster.

Ideally, somewhere where actions wouldn't have consequences, and I could do as I please.

Although TIN's suggestion has its own allure, and is closer to what I believe is true.

Earth, without all the bad stuff, like war, pain, ignorance, bigotry, hatred, etc.

I've got my heaven right here. If the real heaven is half as good as it is, then I am happy. Don't bother trying to understand what I just said, because you won't.

Where I get to be a very sadistic and Ironic god. In small ways mind.

Whereever I'd be healthy.

Mine would be a place where I could sit for hours with close friends without a care. Everyone in awhile there would be a warm rain that we could dance in, and when it stopped everything would be dry again. There would be fresh fruit always in season and always ripe.

Heaven would be exactly like Earth for me has been in 2004. It was a good year to be a goofball. With one slight difference; more mud. It was a poor year for mud.

What is your idea of heaven?

I would like an endless pristine wilderness w/ varying terrain. Weather would be mild and slightly overcast (I'm not a big sun lover). I would be wearing comfortable clothes and a good pair of boots, a sturdy backpack,, roll, tent canteen, ballcap, and my K98 Mauser (to target shoot when I'm in the mood).
My campsites would vary depending on my mood. Sometimes a simple hammock, or a nice camper so I could watch my favorite shows on TV and get a cold soda out of the fridge. Visitors would also depend on my mood. Most often a beautiful woman to spend a night or so with that I could converse with afterwords.

Heaven is the embodiment of the feeling I get when I'm with the one I love, and there's no stress. Nothing serious is discussed, sometimes we don't talk at all. Just lying there, breathing in tune. I want heaven to be like that. Sure, its horribly corny, but hey. Nothing better than love.

A world of infinite complexity in which some new challenge for my mind is always just after the first and there's always a clue when I need it. A world where the sun shines and kids play at politics and invention. A world where people care about me and know me like I know myself. A world where all questions are answered if you look in the right places, and the right places are always where they should be. A world where new wonders are born everyday and the imagination has free reign. A world where I can teach and learn and be happy.

Either that or the heaven from Monty Python's the Meaning of Life.

By the way, there are some really beautiful replies on this. Lets hope it doesn't degrade.

All I know, is that every day will be christmas in heaven :D


Honestly, I dunno. What I may want now will be different as time passes. Would any one of those things be a heaven for me? Could there be a greater answer I'm not aware of? Is there a more pleasurable experience that the human mind cannot comprehend at this point of evolution?

A place whe lives with etheral corpse able to choose our aspect.
No diseas or pain neither
All people whe loved together for eternal time, including animals
A place to live a simple life with no work at all and only amusement
No discrimination in this place even religious one, who care about religion or skin color or money ?

Well, my own personal idea of an after life is that there is no heaven or hell. I believe that all "souls" become a part of a greater collective conciousness. If you can even remotely begin to even think about what that might be like, then your smarter than me, because I can't

But, as to what my ideal "heaven" would be like...yeah, I like the Vallhalla ideal. Fighting and partying 24/7. Sounds fun! :sniper:
