Is there anyone else on here who gets sick of all the debate on the same issues. I enjoy it most of the time, but it does get old. I would like to see more light hearted topics.

I personally enjoy an equilibrium. I need to debate to get some of my anger out, though more original topics are always welcome, but I believe that some light-hearted discussion is a nice relief every once in a while, but if I want frivolous talk, I've got plenty of friends who are willing to discuss more light hearted things than are ethical. Not so many enjoy ideological and theological discourse.

I like talking about silly things as well as the serious ones.

I think we need a more balanced forum, personally. A bit of both. But even the serious threads might need to find a new topic. Abortion, gays, bush, god, and bashiong other people beliefs in the above, is getting kindof old. I find myself less and less often inclined to make a serious post.

Yeah, I'm beginning to feel the same way. We need some deeper stuff than the usual "You're a stupid pinko commie!" threads, as well as some lighter stuff.

Don't you see though? This is how all forums are. Except ones that are heavily partisan. But still... gods, gays, abortion, US foreign policy, and gun contrrol really are the only topics people feel worth discussing. Anything else usually ends up being dismissed as petty. And I agree, some of it is. But anyway, it's fine how it is, we have a the Corrupt a wish series which is light-hearted in addition to many other spotaneous chances to goof off. I'm cool with things the way they are.

Not all forums are like this! There are some forums that have the most random crap you've ever seen. "eek, there's a spider on my wall, how do i kill it?" and such.

Oh god yes. Not so much that it eclipses the so-called debates though.

I too get rather tired of the same topics all the time ( Abortion, gays, Bush, and religion come to mind ), but I don't particularly want to see more "light-hearted" topics on here, just more serious, reasoned, intelligent discussions on serious issues.

Another thing that makes this board so irritating is what I call "the regurgitation factor."

END RESULT: Yeah so Bush hates gay puppies.

I saw a forum like this. It was totally full of BS. And topics got to like 10 pages in minutes because, well, people posted like maniacs.

Actually, this thread is turning out to be pretty funny. Nice for a little change.

I always wonder at the people who complain sbout this. I just counted. There are 25 threads (minus the stickies) on page 1. The debate:other ratio is 5:20. This is in the rough neighborhood of what's usually on page 1 every time I've counted. Why on eart do you think 20% of topics being debate is too much?
