While I'm libertarian and supported Badnarik, I still wonder how my school is gonna be tomorrow - there are so many liberals at my school, and they didn't exactly react well to Bush's re-election

You're lucky. I'm in CO (not the first place you would think of for a conservative hotbed) and my school is FILLED with conservatives who think liberal is a dirty word

You guy's think he will walk this time?

With the number of protests planned, it's doubtful. At least, for the whole time.

Bush is having bloody military parades in his honour for the inaguration :headbang:

those arguements that america's is becoming a facist government are seeming more and more inviting each day...

Depending on the area, a lot of people would consider (parts of) CO a conservative hotbed.

Do you know if it will be on CNN or something like that?
Will we in Europe get to see it live? Do you know?
And when does it start-GMT time that is.

But you're right..but it's not as obvious as say, the south.

My school is filled with people who don't give a damn.

I'll spend my day wallowing in self-pity for my next four years of life. Then I'll be distracted momentarily by a pair of good-looking legs, then pity...

Fascism
A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.

Bush is not sensoring his opponents, or advoctateing it. Bush is not a dictator as he is elected and unable to run for a 3rd term. Bush does not have stringent socioeconomic controls, and the closest thing to this is his anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage possitions. Any beligerent nationalism is due more to the shock of 9-11 than anything Bush has done. Anyone who mentions racism will make me laugh; looking at his cabinet should shut your mouth.

People claiming that Bush/Republicans want to turn the country into a fascist state need to take their tin-foil hats off. I certain ammount of causion regaurding the person in power, but some of this junk is simply fear-mongering by the more extream branches of the democratic party.

I think everybody should have the right to celebrate or protest, though I think personally they should limit the protesting during the event. Its like going to a birthday party of someone you don't like and yelling and telling people how rotten they are. It seems everybody except the President is allowed to remove rowdy people from their parties.

I would shake the hand of any President and think of it as an honor, even if I didn't vote for the guy, but that is me personally.

I'm not catholic, but I would love to meet the Pope and play chess with him.

I just put respect to our elected officals, partly because as a Xian its part of my belief structure.

I am working and probably won't even follow it.

Don't particularily care about 40 million dollar parties for the powerful.

I wonder how many times they will say:
9/11
Sadaam
Democracy in Iraq
WMD
Terror
Terrorists (or in the shrubs case terrace)
A reference to "saving" SS.

They aired the last Presidential Inauguration on the BBC I beleive, so I don't see why they wouldn't air this one.

Which after a little jaunt to the radio times website, it appears they are:

Thursday 20 January
4:30pm - 6:00pm
BBC2 BBC News Special: The Inauguration of the President

After 9/11, the terror brought about by evil men has awakened us. We went in to a shithole to root out terrorists, and capture Sadaam's WMDs. Now, there's Democracy in Iraq.

(Don't know what you mean by the last one, sorry.)

Ah yes, tomorrow the most sacred event in the world will occur: the most beautiful occurence, a divine proclamation, one might say,

No, it's not the inauguration.

It's the Best 'Darn' Band In The Land! They're playing at the inauguration!

Go Bucks! Harbingers of perfection, intercession, and large sweaty football players!

Yeah, we barely have enough space in our warehouses for all the weapons of mass destruction we found in Iraq, and barely enough in our prisons for all the Al Qaeda members we found operating there.

Man, just writing all that sarcasm hurts my brain.

The Inaguration is a patriotic ceremony and the military has always been part of it. Get over it. :gundge:
