Depends. Personally I accept that the soldiers did something wrong (wasn't there another British prisoner abuse scandal just after the war 'ended', anyway?). However, if you're unreasonable about it, I probably would get annoyed.

So, what were you going to say?

Okay,
Well you English are renowned for beeing violent, football hooligans etc. ,just look at your history. I know I lived in England for two years.
It was more a question of when rather then if.

It sounds harsh I know, to judge a nation for the acts of few.
Many English people I have met are very nice and polite don't get me wrong.

If these soldiers like violence, they should be put on the receiving end, to help them understand their victims' points of view.

Well the soldiers in question are not Scottish, Welsh, N. Irish, Manx or even a Pitcairne Islander they are English so why bring in all the British nations?

No the soldiers are not, they are British.

My God, you know nothing of the Reformation. Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland are all one nation. There is no English army, there is only the British army.

Scotland, England and Wales are only divided up to this day due to differing aspects in the legal systems. Being Scottish myself it gets me pissed off when people call The United Kingdom, England. We are all one nation. Jeez it says it all in the title. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

agreed we are one united people and so if people from the British army have been found to be violating the rights of others then the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland will act accordingly

Not a problem.
But I would like to point out that I only said English soldiers because they are English (Anglo-Saxon), the soldiers in question that is. You said your self that you are Scottish.
But I know you are all British.
We like the Scotts and the Irish here so I want no problems with them.
Sorry about the missunderstanding.

Nitpicking about which army it is doesn't change the fact that this is a fucking dark day for Britain. I hope they throw those assholes away for a very long time.

They are part of the British army!
If it was a welsh or scottish or even a member of Northern Ireland it would suddenly be called the British army. This is not having a go at anybody whatsoever its just the way things seem to be. I will gladly withdraw this statement if there is sufficient proof that I'm wrong.

I don't want to cause offence but its the way I see it

That is nothing. The British army has done far worse in its day, I mean we invented the concentration camps for goodness sakes. We threw an entire nation into three large concentrations camps, this is nothing.

As far as I’m concerned those Iraqi soldiers will have committed far worse crimes against their own people, a little revenge is not uncalled for.

Revenge sucks. If everybody keeps getting revenge it goes on forever. Besides, the abused prisoners in this case were arrested for looting, not killing westerners.
Yay! Great Britian has joined the club.

I would hope that the British soldiers in these pictures will be given at least 10 years hard time in a British Army Prison.

For those of you that don't know what that entails and think its a light punishment - hard time in an army prison here constitutes digging a hole for half a day, and then filling it back in, every day of your sentance.

I agree completely, it is a very dark day for both Britain and the British army. I don't care if Britain "invented concentration camps". Our generation didn't do that, we can't be held accountable for it. We can be held accountable for the actions of our living peers. I honestly thought the standard of our troops was high enough to ensure that this wouldn't happen, sadly in these few cases, I guess I was wrong.

As to call of football hooliganism, yes I'll allow that certain Britons are violent, just as they are across Europe and in the US. With regard to history, yes we do have a violent history, but I don't know many nations in the world that don't.

Finally, in reply to the photo's of prisoner abuse after the war had first ended, they were proved to be fake. If you look at the equipment from those pictures, including the truck, there is concrete evidence that they were never in Iraq. There was a large scandal that ensued which saw the editor of the paper that printer the pictures Piers Morgan resign.
