I urge my fellow Americans to join John Kerry in calling for President George W. Bush to fire Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld for his inept handling of the war in Iraq. After the scandal at Abu Ghraib, the torture, and 1,500 U.S. deaths, I think it is time that we DEMAND that Rumsfeld go!

I thought you were calling for Rummy's assassination, which is the only way I can think of to get him out of office short of waiting. When you demand that Bush change his mind you only strengthen his resolve.
/Don't attempt to assassinate the secratary of defense. It's against the law and you'll get caught and possibly be executed if you're successful.

That's not even remotely funny.
And I beg to differ on the point that Bush doesn't feel public pressure. He's already flip-flopped on a variety of issues in his first term.

Don't worry much. It seems Rubber Stamp Rumsfeld is falling out of favor amongst Bush's NeoConservative puppetmasters. When the quagmire in Iraq gets bad enough, he'll be the sacrificial scapegoat who gets offed to appease the general public.

It is sadly ironic that my first post will be to defend a person I beleive to be misguided. Rumsfeld has made his gaffes during the last 4 years but to place the blame soley on him shows cowardice, untelligence, and partisanship. The people responsible for the war crimes committed in Iraq will be punished. however, there is no conclusive evidence that anyone above Watch Commander gave any explicit orders to violate the Fourth Geneva Convention regarding the treatment of prizoners of war.
However, this underscores the problems of living in a "civilized society". We make a big hype about the rules of war and our treatment of POWs when our enemies do not recognize the same rules.
I say to h*ll with the rules of war. If our enemies do not wish to follow them, we shouldn't have to either. You get what you pay for!

And Bush doesn't respond to public pressure. Well, he does, but not in the way you're thinking. He probably doesn't even know what the public thinks. If he sees John Kerry telling him what to do, he'll try not to do what Kerry wants.

You've lost whatever mind you had. You seem to be one Fruit Loop shy of a full bowl. I just signed a petition to have John "AmoralOpportunist" Kerry sentanced to a lifetime of apologizing to all Vietnam veterans. :mp5:

For what? Didn't he try to get the troops sent home sooner back when he still apparently had a soul?

Dear Eutrusca,
Don't take this personally....but you're a flaming neoconservative idiot. :D
I am fully aware that Rumsfeld is not entirely responsible for the situation. But since the Republican Congress is not interested in investigating anything the Republican President is doing, then I'll hold anyone responsible who I can (provided they had a hand in it, of course).
And you have mighty big nuts talking about Kerry as an "Amoral Opportunist" considering how Bush is auctioning off government policy to the highest bidder.

Are you yourself a Vietnam veteran?
If you are, then I can say nothing, as many people talk about Kerry "insulting" Vietnam vets, but I believe only you have the right to demand apology.
If you are not, then speak for yourself.
