Abortion Thread On Thread Abortion

Lately we've been seeing a lot of overpopulation on the General Forum. Topics getting debated, rehashed, debated again, jumped on, parodied, spat at, turned into chocolate bars...

Well, maybe not that last one.

All the good discussion is getting buried in repetition...repetition...repetition...

*hits monitor*

Repetition. So would YOU support thread abortion? There are many uncared for and unloved threads out there, doomed to a poor existence. Some might say they should never have been posted.

We can't be sure of when a thread really starts of course. Is it when the first idea comes into the author's head? When they loaded the Nationstates forum? When they were typing it? Or when it's posted? I've been a personal witness to partial thread abortion of very good topics, and barbaric as it is, maybe a few more threads here could do with the old heave ho?

# - Because bandwagon-jumping is fun. And that cat must die. :D

Kneejerk reaction - Yes.

Tad more considered reaction - If an thread initiator realises that their thread is being hijacked then perhaps.

Re-re-reaction after further consideration - But then that lays the way open for a thread initiator to collapse it as soon as he gets a negative response/non-agreement with his or her views, and that's a double-edged sword.

Additional consideration - And as long as the 'ignorami' of side A are spewing misinformation, the 'inteligencia' of side B should retain the right to refute those erroneous arguments. (Yet another duoble-edged sword there, you'll notice, or at least two swords, where your oponent's always looks rather fuzzy and intangible but he still swings it around like he means what he says...)

Final, yet still probably ill-formed, opinion - Let's have... oh, I don't know... people with special privalidges who can... erm... moderate? Yes. 'Moderate'. ...who can 'moderate' the forums. Let's call them... Oh, I don't know... Some smart name or other... I'll let someone else work the details out... Then we can blame them for over/under-enthusiastic control of the fora, at least, and each of us normal posters retain the personal impression that one is blameless...

(Tell you what, though, I'm definitely fed up of some of the reoccuring threads... I see where you're coming from, reading between the lines of humour/parody of your message, and yet I can't see any good solution...)

[/WayTooSeriousForTheThreadMode]This could very well be the first case in history of a spam thread being hijacked by a serious dude, the spammers of adelaide salute you!

Wow. O_O

We got a serious reply ^_^

But you see, the problem with these 'Moderators' as you call them, is that in my experience they tend to act more like politicians or police chiefs. They pass the laws, occasionally enforce them when they aren't dealing with larger matters, and are susceptible to bribes

Where are our impartial doctors who are on call 24/7? Where are these knowledgeable level-headed people trained to deal out treatment for these threads-that-may-be? WHERE I ASK YE?

In my refrigerator. I'd return them, but I don't think you'll want them anymore now that they're in small pieces.

I say abort thread. There are too many clothes made from cotton, wool and the like. My vote is for armor. There is no need for wearing full armor on all occasions. When one goes to the beach, for instance, he or she would wear the armor swimming suit, or bathing suit, or swimming costume as some English folk say.

Sure, the cotton farmers would have to reduce their crops, and the shepherds would be out of business, except for the industry driven by lamb dining. But the metal interests would have a great time.

Therefore, I am going with the proposed abortion of thread, as was proposed at the start of this thread. Ah-oh! I think this whole thing just disappeared. Poof! It has been aborted. Eek! We must take more care with our thoughts.

I told you it would be funny.
