If you could choose only one issue that you were ever allowed to talk/debate about, which issue would it be? Let's ignore for a second that all of these issues are actually linked in some way or another....ONE issue...FOREVER.

religion
poverty
gender
sexuality
economics
human rights
government
media
belly lint
other (please explain)

Belly lint. Seriously. I mean, I love politics...I can talk about politics until I'm blue in the face and be deliriously happy...but really...belly lint is an inexhaustible source of inspiration.

Libertarianism
Isn't that either economics or a political system?

You can not separate, Human Rights, Economics and Politics. any discussion of any one o the three always, and inevitably includes a discussion of the other two.

I voted other. Political threads are all very well but I like nothing more than to make up random shite. It's fun if you're bouncing off someone else just talking utter crap.

Yeah, I know...I'm being silly. But just close your eyes, take a breath and choose...where would you focus MOST on?

No more belly linters out there? Oh, I must open your eyes to the possibilities...

Belly lint: for emergency staunching of wounds

Belly lint: for emergency knitting of socks

Belly lint: use it for warmth

Belly lint: Donald Trump could use a new toupee

Belly lint: arts and crafts materials for the poor...

In the case of some of these subjects, I think it would be almost impossible to only talk about them without mentioning any other subject.

Beliefs, not religion specifically, but what you believe about the world, people, our origins, what is right or wrong. Yeah I know, its a cheeky way of saying everything. ;)

I voted human rights but truthfully it would probably be about art and how art should be available for everyone to enjoy and not just rich people or art critics. Most people wouldn't consider that much of an issue though, probably - it's just because my degrees are in Art History and I got well tired of the pretention and snobbery of a lot of people in the art world (I'm not helping myself get a museum job, here, am I?) - I've got a bit of a bee in my bonnet about how everyone should be able to appreciate art.

That or U2. I could talk about U2 till the cows come home. :)

I'd probably have to second Johnistan's vote for music. That stays interesting pretty well.

I'm fascinated with ethics, but I get bored of it after a while.

Personally I'd go for science and the natural world. It's a pretty much constant source of wonder and I talk about very little else anyway :)
Seriously though, myself I find discussions surrounding politics usually revolve around how antagonistic you are to the other person. I find conversations about science tend to be more constructive and friendly, and not quite as frightening on the sheer aggression stakes. Of course, you can always find people that want to apply ideology to it, but I avoid those.

dude that should be what your first threads about then.We should hijack as many threads as we can with this conversation.

I wouldn't start that thread, because it'd be a lot of me bitching about No Child Left Behind, which would eventually morph into a Bush love/hate extravaganza. Which would certainly fill the inflammatory quota, but would defeat the purpose of the thread.
