I started a thread about how current day rolemodels for younger women are immoral. Somehow that got into crime and diseases. How can we prevent this? $10 says that before this thread dies, we will be argueing about Bushs views on Social Security.

Hey! With that ten bucks, I'd be doing about twice as well as I would under Bush's Social Security carve-out.
It's hard to get off topic when your thread doesn't really have a topic to begin with.

So what's the starting point for discussion? Role models for young people again?

Role models ought to be parents or people of calibre like academics and intellects, not the mindless two-bit celebrities coming out of Hollywood these days at a dime a dozen (cheaper than a slut and booze! - no offence intended).

Speaking of getting off track, did you see how Bush is trying to manufacture a social security "crisis" in order to funnel S.S. dollars to his Wall Street masters?
Come on, you practically asked for it.

Don't look at me. My role model's Yeshua, otherwise known as Jesus. Those celebrities are… something bad.

I think the person who started this thread is a neo con. Though I'm not making random offhand comments just to bug him, its because he specifcally asked for it.

Hang on, hang on, people. Since this topic is ABOUT getting off topic, wouldn't the most off-topic thing to do be staying ON topic? But that would be getting off the previous topic, which would be… my head hurts!

Does anyone else feel a lil' stunted that they skipped right o'er from the X to the XXX rating for pornography?
Maybe the middle rating was for the ones that actually had some plot, or intra-character respect.
*sigh*
BTW, talkin' bout the name, not the post.

I wrote a 15-page paper on that topic for my final comp class last summer (the bad role model topic, i mean).

Aren't we all role models for those younger then us? I think we should check ourselves first before criticizing others.
Though we are free to criticize it is very much fun :D

i agree that we are all role models for children and others younger than ourselves. the thing that sparked my attention in the subject, and the reason i wrote the paper, was a quote by jessica simpson that was in a teen girls magazine. it was something along the lines of "Acting stupid is fun, and guys love it." Ahem. Wow. I about poo-ed myself.
Granted, I know I act ditzy a lot...but I am also not in the spotlight like she, Paris, Britney, etc. are.

Excellent! It makes me happy when I poo, because it doesn't happen that often.
(This is officially the most ridiculous post I have put on this board yet)
EDIT: WAIT!!!! I am not STUPID!!! Just because I occasionally act ditzy, does not mean I am stupid by any means. I am actually quite smart, I just try to take everything light-heartedly.
