Thats what happens when you have no hope for the future because your country's wealth evaporated when a handful of oligarchs looted it, organized crime assumes control of just about everything, and you have power mad dictators running things at a national level crushing everyone who looks at them the wrong way, and on top of it all you are facing a terrifying aids pandemic which is just emerging.
Guys $7 is like 210 rubles...which they are getting instead of free public transport.

And the Cold War was caused in large part by a lack of communication between the two sides. The USA just didn't understand what the USSR was doing. The USA hadn't lost quite as many millions as the USSR. The USA's cities hadn't been pounded to oblivion. The USA had a small pond in the way. The USA didn't see why the USSR wanted a buffer zone.

Anything is better then Putin. But I heard that a Russian president can nominate a new presidential candidate, he can nominate the most stupid russian if he wants and let him drag the country more down the drain and then come back. He would do this I think just because of his greed.

Thats what Yeltsin did, he appointed Putin who than had an enormous advantage over everyone else in the elections a few months later.
