It's People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. They try to influence societal standards that encourage the routine torture of animals. Sometimes, they're stupid by doing things like spending money on anti-milk billboards when they could be opposing things like the horrendous conditions in factory farms. There's no reason anyone should hate them, though, they're just trying to make life better for some innocent creatures. If you hate animals, fine, don't give them your money.

They're militant as well. Hell, I went to their website once and they had under the kids section "Colonel Corn Launches an assault on the meaties in Texas."

well, technically vivisection isn't always the best idea, many things that are fine to us are poison to animals and vice versa.

and peta isn't always horribly radical... for instance, rather than encourage the boycott of nearly every company that does any animal testing whatsoever, they only encourage the boycott of companies that unnecessarily test on animals. (i.e. people who test cosmetics and houshold cleaners on animals, such as procter and gamble, instead of those who just test medicine...)

they do take it a bit far at times though, however how much attention do you think they would get if they didn't?

I believe the people in PETA have a few(ok, alot) of screws in their heads loose. Sure, torturing animals is bad, but I mean not testing on them AT ALL? I mean, we conquered this planet, so we can do whatever we want with it!

Anyhoo, No Animal testing? Would you rather we test real people? I say we test on the PETA people. Since they don't want us to test animals, it must mean they want to volunteer for their place!

So plants don't cast a shadow? How does that work?

I have great respect for people who don't eat meat because of health reasons. But not eating meat or using animal products for some philosophical statement? Sorry, that's just weird.

Actually, I tried an all-vegetarian diet once. I lost a lot of weight, becuase they were really hard to catch.

wtf?

you have respect for people who are dealing with a health problemm but not those who have made a decision for themselves which in no way affects you to eat healthily and attempt to avoid harming animals in the process?

first off, that's like saying "i respect the lactose intolerant for not drinking milk, but when vegans do it, it's just weird."

Yeah, that's about the jist of it. People are omnivors. You can tell by our teeth.

Animals and people are not equal. If I needed to sacrifice a thousand animals to save one human life, I would. And Honestly, I wouldn't mind vegans so much if they weren't so vocal in telling me that meat is evil. Kinda like how a lot of people get annoyed when Chrstians press too hard trying to convert people.

we're omnivores of opportunity, you can tell by the length of our intestines we aren't meant for excessive meat consumption.

we're omnivores in the same way that raccoons, rats and most bears are. if there's meat, we can eat it, if there isn't, well, then that's perfectly alright for our digestion.

too much meat is terrible for you though.

Animals and people are not equal.

...people are animals.

And Honestly, I wouldn't mind vegans so much if they weren't so vocal in telling me that meat is evil.

oh please. i've been a vegetarian for 5 years and i've never tried to convince someone not to eat meat but you would not believe how many times people have shoved meat in my face and tried to make me eat it. my mother has tried a number of times to slip chicken broth into my food and still harasses me to eat meat whenever i go home.

so don't tell me that vetetarians and vegans are preachy.

What weed have you been smoking?

There is a difference between Language and communication. Cats communicate, does that mean they have a language? Dogs communicate, does that mean they have a language?

Dolphin "language" is probably as advanced as what Homo erectus had. They can say "Come here" "I'm hungry", "Lets play", and "Kill kill!", but they cant go "Well, if you REALLY think about it Seaweed is alive."
"No its not!"
"Yes it is! Look, it's green!"
"So what?!?!?"
