The thing I generaly hate about most holidays is this:
TV specials.
For instance, the HIstory Channel will no doubt be showing three specials on Martin Luther King Junior. All day.
Same for Discovery, FX, TNT, and possibly the Sci-Fi Channel, those who DONT show MLKJ specials will be showing 'Tsunami aid: A concert of Hope', or will be showing both.
Personally, we learn enough about King in school, we are force-fed stupid cartoons with time-travling grade-schoolers with bad voice acting. Which is not to say a memorial of some sort is a BAD thing, I can see one special for a channel, and maybe add a little 'IN memory' to other shows.
But honestly, why make us hate historical figures for getting in the way of Mythbusters?
And yes, I would go outside, but this is Arizona in winter. The wind chill is about -3,000,000 and its cold as is.
On another subject, I find the charecters in that MLK cartoon (Martin and Me, as I recall) to be rather racist.
Main Charecter: Black kid, smart, funny, blah blah
'Best Friend': White, redhead, dumb as a brick
'Rebelions Female "friend"': Black hair, permenant sneer, white
'Bully': White, brown hair. Extremly fat and wears shirts about eighty sizes to small so as to show belly.
Throughout the movie the black kid makes his superiority known by jabbering random facts from Kings life.
Anybody see a pattern?
And I think Whoopie Goldberg makes an appearance in her usual role of 'Fairy-godmother-esque' guide.
