Once upon a time, there was this ultra cool guy called Alex.

One day, Alex was very board, so he started visiting a "Website" on the "World Wide Web" called "NationStates" created by a man called Max Barry.

Anyhow, his coolness rubbed off on the site, and it became extremly popular.

On one of his visits to the website, Alex created a thread called

"Massive Feminist Movement in the Alexian Empire"


People joined, people looked, people made fun.

And Alex was relativly pleased with it.

But soon, it spun out of control, as it reaked with so much coolness that everyone had to see it, and then copy it, incoperate parts of it into there things, and start debates about the general topic.

And thus, and Internet trend was born!



That's right. I started the trend. I start trends in my community and city(I.e. the resurgence of MC Hammer's popularity in the sourounding area) and now, even on the internet! The godamn internet!

Here, want a bit of debate than,, as I quickly noticed on the thread you started which apperently makes you real cool, the first post is dated 23-12-2004, or in laymans terms, December 23rd 2004. Now correct me if I'm wrong but did the femminist movement not start long before that, and have multiple peaks of popularity since? At least in the real world thats the case. And even in this forumn looking back at prior threads with related topics we find such examples as

The internet started to gain popularity during the 90's,, where I personally tend to think you woulda been a little young to understand the technicallities behind formallizing and popularizing the internet we know now adays.

And as you said,, its highly unlikely at best (even by your own admission) that you started the movement,, but as I pointed out by the recently posted to threads, there is no increase or decrease in the number of threads about femminizim being discussed, ergo no trend started by you.

The 'obvious bias' I'm talking about is how you take facts that support what your point of view, while ignoring facts that do not fit that pattern. Also it has caused you to make irrational jumps in coming up with a logical conclusion about your supposed 'coolness'.

Also, I would strongly caution you against, crying wolf to the mods about how everyone is sooo horribly mistreating you,, without taking a step back and look at how your responding.

If it where a trend, like most other trends I would expect to see a multitude of threads in the top 6 pages (of most recently posted to threads..) whereas what I found when I had looked (at that point in time) were a grand total of 2 threads directly applicable to the topic at hand, one created before and one after your 'seed thread'. Hence my judgement that a trend was not started. Also, one should remember that if a trend was started, it may not be due to the person, but instead due to the idea being brought to the more front end of the mind as apposed to the back, and related biasing of people thoughts. It would be an interesting idea to further explore tho. (Person vs. Idea starting trends)
And I do tend to read things multiple times, as well as spend much time thinking about things before responding,, so maybe the case may be that I'm reading tooo deeply into what is said? Also it could be a result of bias on my behalf (eg. looking for points to counteract what you say, while disregarding points that agree with what you say).

very good points. Well done. I would agree with you, but you don't seem to have your mind made up, but I have to say, I can't really argue with all that.

Although there is still the possibility that it was started, as we still haven't realy made up our minds. I'm confused.

One other example, though.

In "Roach-Buster"'s thread "Roach-Buster's slave market" (or something to that affect) I noted that he was now selling feminist slaves, whereas in all the other slave market threads made before my post, no feminists were mentioned, not from what I saw anyway. Just a thought.

And you must admit, my thread did get a good deal of exposure.
