I was asked by a coworker whose daughter has to write a paper on that topic.

The only refernce I know of is the slang "muslim" which meant a person dibilitated from starvation.

Does anybody know of a reference of practicing Muslims dying in the camps?

Musilms were "inferior". But I think they just got listed as "gypsies"

Well, Muslims were recruited as SS men, so I'm not sure how many went to the camps...

Doubtful since the nazis used muslim SS men to kill roma.

When I went to Mauthausen last year as part of a visit to Austria, I saw scribblings on preserved walls / bricks in Arabic. There were phrases like: "Ya Allahum", which translates into "Oh God".. Other references to Allah were there as well.. but that doesn't make the prisoners Muslim, they may be Arabs.. All Arabs refer to their God as "Allah" since the latter is basically a transliteration of God.

There may have been Muslims of ethnicities/nationalities other than Arab ya know!.. Over ten million people killed, there must have been a significant portion of Muslims, probably labelled gypsies or homosexuals though,

What constitutes a "significant portion" and where the hell are you getting the idea that muslim casualties were listed as roma or gays?

The above links show muslim complicity in Nazi attrocities. Catholic complicity as well. very few catholics died in the camps compared to Jews and Gypsies. One would expect a similarly small number of muslims would meet their end there as well.

Considering that the Germans disposed of people of any sort, including German, when they were inconvenient, of questionable loyalty, and of "just the wrong type", some must have been killed in the concentration camps.

But probably not as many who served as SS men.

Remember, we're talking about the Germans. The people who shot their allies, the Italians, off the trucks that were part of the breakout and attempted retreat from Stalingrad.

True, but there is a difference between their attitudes to and practice with the Jewish population or the Gypsy/Romanys, who were sent to the camps just for being Jewish or Gypsy/Romany, and the examples of other racial/national groups, who were sent for being homosexuals or other individual traits.
