I bring this up after reading the 'Ideal Woman" thread,

Ive never heard any big issues with women being attracted to older men, in fact its so common place to do so it seems the accepted 'norm'.

So to the guys out there, does this work the same for you and older women?

For me its not an issue, I dont even see age anymore. I think we all know about Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher - so lets hear your opinion on this...

Some examples of older yet still sexually very attractive ladies that come to my mind:

Monica Bellucci (number one with a bullet - though I think much of it can be attributed to her accent)

Sheryl Crow (She was voted as having the sexiest lips in rock'n'roll - Im inclined to agree here!)

Marg Helgenberger (For her age, shes still a stone cold stunner)

Hale Berry (She just gets better with age)

So lets have comments (clean ones! Lets keep this civil!) and lets hear your opinions... Is age a concern? Would you date an older woman? How much age difference is too much? - granted this comes into play for me after a certain age!

I think that for either gender, it doesn't matter.

But, it's reasonable to expect that teenagers date teenagers.

If you're 18+, if you date someone more than 10 years your senior, you're nuts. I'm not one to judge, but I personally think that there should only be a certain age gap. But, then again, if you really love someone, age doesn't matter.

This is where I get lost a little actually. I beleive, as Kryo. says, that with love age doesnt matter, and like I said, I do beleive that this sort of applies to certain age groups differently. I think that anyone still in high-school ought to stick with people closer to their age group - simply for the fact that they need the experience it brings before stepping into a relationship with someone who is likely ready for something more serious than they are ready for - in this instance I use the old 'half your age plus seven rule' it works fairly well as a guideline for most of these situations.

But if, now that Im 24, I started dating someone who was 35-40, I think that there would be some real issues come to pass. I mean, thinking about the fact that when 'she' turn 60-65 and is ready for retirement, Ill just be hitting the prime of my career... The difference in interests as defined by such a degree of demographical seperation... Its quite confusing really.

But still, if you love someone that much...

In the end I guess the right thing to do is let the heart decide. ;)

Well, i'm only 18, so I can't imagine dating a 30 year old (or even mid-20's). It would be like two different worlds. I'm young and reckless. It would be like having to grow up too fast and miss out on the best years of my life...

And I really doubt I could share the same interests as a woman from that age group. I'm sure when i'm older i'll think differently, but as of now, nope. :)

It's interesting that you've asked if age is an issue "for older women", but as yet, no "older women" have stepped up to the plate to answer. So here goes ...

A few years ago, when I was 42, I was taken to lunch by a 19-year old guy. He looked many years older, was good looking and had a very deep voice! I look years younger than my age, so we didn't look all that bad together. We got along very well, but I couldn't see any possible future with him. And to be quite honest with you, I couldn't bear to see him have to now try to be far more grown up than he really was. This is no diss against him in any way, but I felt he should really just do his thing with someone NOT old enough to be his mom.

So my issue would be ... if he's young enough to be my son, then it would certainly be a turn-off. Almost all the men I've dated have been younger than me, so I do like younger men ... just not young enough to be my son.

I'm forty, and have dated guys up to twelve years younger than myself, as well as guys ten years older than me. I've always prefered younger guys and rarely dated a guy who wasn't. That said, I get along better and relate better to guys within five to seven years of my age. While I've dated older men that I really liked, I'm just shallow enough to think younger is more attractive. I suppose I look young enough to get away with it, since most guys prefer younger women. Or perhaps I was a guy in my last life.

Hell no. They're smarter and don't care about my money. Actually, they're better in bed to, especially if over 35. For me (maybe I'm alone here), but life experience and education are a BIG turn on.

I think older women enjoy the robust youth and vigor of a younger man.A younger guy is more closer to his sexual peak and this is great for the lady.
I also think younger guys may make the lady feel alive and youthful,and they would be more fun.I think it's ok because theres more an emotional connection.It also depends on the age range I think too.

As for a younger lady with an older guy,well If I was a woman I wouldn't want to date an older guy.I think older guys' enjoy younger women because it's mostly about how it makes the guy feel, n not always about really connecting on an emotional level with the woman.Anna Nicole Smith Scenerio an example?

I myself try not to date anymore than 10 years either way.At 18,I dated a 26 year old,at 25,I started dating an 18 year old but felt guilty so I stopped it and when I was 30 and 36,I had an 18 and 19 year old after me.No way would I date em.I'd feel like a dirty old man.Maybe I'm an exception I don't know.

Ahhhh... I see.

I have a tendency of attracting women who are either inappropriately older than me (late 30's on up) or inappropriately younger than me (18-22). Women +- 5 years of my age (31) seem to want nothing to do with me.

Oh well, I'll never figure that out.

My parents were born on the same day, and year. Different hospitals, but same city. Mum's a few hours older than Dad though.
Oddly enough I was due to be born on the same day as well (28 years later obvioulsy), but managed to hold on for a couple of more days so I could have my very own birthday.
