If you could go back to any time period in American history, what would it be?

It can only be one, and you cant say, go back to 1491, wait a year, than kill Christopher Columbus, than our problems will be solved. Or go back to 1781 and make the founding fathers ban Bush from becoming president, I just mean a time period to relax in and enjoy.

Id have to say from the fourtys to the seventys, completely blocking out what happened in the 60's and 70's, except of course Beatle Mania, would have to go to that time! But Id love to go back visit my family, before I was born, when they were much younger. It seems awesome. That time, was so much better than modern day.

Well I was born in 1976, so...
Knowing what I know now and having experienced all of the technology of this day and age... I would probably be very annoyed with any previous epoch.
Imagine what not having things like:
a)running water
b)indoor plumbing
c)electricity (or easy access to it)
d)the PC
e)the telephone
f)the microwave
g)the automobile
h)the television/VCR/DVD (etc.)
i)the radio
j)penicillin and other antibiotics
i)fast food (lol)
would be like. I mean can you imagine your primary mode of entertainment being the book? I love to read and love books, but that would get pretty old (knowing what we know) in a hurry.
If I'm going to be stricken with cholera, I at least want to be able to watch TV or surf the Net. hehe
