Princeton, IN, the location of this accent (http://classweb.gmu.edu/accent/english67.html) is about 30 minutes from where I live. I don't sound exactly like it (not as breathy), but pretty damn close. It is such a boring accent.

What I wonder is it that Princeton, IN, a place in the middle of absolutely nowhere, that is mainly a rural farming community, would have what is considered a "normal" accent.

Don't worry I know. It just seems like the British accent would be considered "normal" and the rest would be considered strange. Especially an area as rural as the midwest.

Is your accent the same as an accent of someone in Wisconsin? Because if it is, it most certainly isn't "normal". I once worked with a woman from Wisconsin, and I swear to god, she never used the letter "O".

You are all the way on the other side of the state. I go to school about 40 minutes from Cape Girardo.

Yes, I spent a few summers in Georgia, and had started picking up that accent. I try my hardest not to slip into it, but when I am with my relatives from that area it is natural.

I've driven through Cape Girardeau a few times, but I don't remember much about it.

I have a Malay/Singaporean accent.

The girl in the website speaks rather normal-ish. She needs to get more colloqial in her slang.

Please call Stellalah wei. Ask her to bringlah these things with her from the store ya: enam(Six) spoons of fresh snow peas, fife thick slabs of blue cheese, and maybe a snack for her brother Bob ok. We also need a small plastic snake and a BIIIIG toy frog for the kids wei. She can scoop these things into three red bags, and we will go meet her Wednesday at the train station ya.

My accent, if you can call it that, is Western Canadian... unfortunately it's pretty bland in my opinion. :(

As for accents that fit my flavour, I like southern accents - depending on the persons actual voice tone and use of language of course.

North-Eastern European accents are a definite turn-on!

Spanish and Italian - butter me up...

and I prefer South African accents to British or Australian... not that the others are so bad, if they are of the eloquent, proper variety they get me pretty warm too!

I obviously have some sort of Australian accent (being Australian and all), but nothing on that site matches me very well. My accents pretty subdued (I think... keeping in mind that I only know what I sound like to me, not what I sound like to other people).

Plus, I've been told I have a slight American or English accent on various occasions by random people, so I think my accent's some random mish-mash of American, English and Australian. Better than just plain Australian, I guess.

I'm guessing that site is fairly new and they'll add more as time goes on. (I imagine it would be a pain for an American researcher having to get a sample from every major city in the UK)

I probably picked mine up through learning new words from English-accented sources, and thus learning the accent as part of the pronunciation. Or maybe osmosis.

All Australians should be forced to speak with English accents by law. That way I'd probably pick one up properly, instead of just in bits and pieces.

Of course, I'd have to be an exception to the... law... because otherwise I wouldn't need to pick it up because I'd have to have one... by... law.
