Issues

Does anyone else agree that the issues on Nation States have too few options, or all the options are to any of the extremes and thus no good choice can be made?

Yes, I very much agree with that statement...

And, so does an entry in the game's FAQ page...

Why is my nation so weird?
Everything is exaggerated a little. Well, okay, a lot. Your decisions affect your nation very strongly, so your country might seem like a more extreme version of what you were aiming for. Unless you have radical politics. In which case you probably think nothing's wrong.

My decision had unintended consequences!
Yep, that'll happen. For one thing, see "Why is my nation so weird?" above. For another, pretty much every decision you make will involve a trade-off of some kind. It's kind of an exercise in choosing the best of a bunch of bad options. You might find this frustrating, especially if you're the kind of person who thinks the solutions to all the world's problems are obvious.

So yeah, most of the issues have no "good" choices... And that's because the game is designed to work that way... It's not something that needs to be fixed, it's pretty much the whole point...

You need to choose the lesser of the evils, basically...

it's how the game is designed, to force you to choose issues that will disrupt something else

If you don't like the issues, propose new ones. That's also a part of the game. I personally think the tax thing is a little extreme. I'd like to see more options to lower taxes via use of 'sin' taxes.

But I'm too lazy to work up the issues and options.

Instead I hang out here in general.

Yeah, the animal experimentation issue certainly had consequences I hadn't anticipated.

I click dismiss on about 75% of my issues.

I've dismissed a couple, but I usually try & choose one. Otherwise, what's the point of playing?

Exactly...

I don't see the point in dismissing the issues... I mean, they are the game! It's like turning on your PS2, and sitting the controller down...lol

I suppose that if you want your nation to be *just so*, and you think that any decision in a given issue will throw it off of your path, perhaps then you can dismiss the issue... But otherwise, why are you playing? Well, I should say, why aren't you playing?
