Iraqi Elections Tough S__t for Sunnis

Iraq is finally going to have it's election and instead of participating and trying to take part in shaping a new nation the Sunni are going to go off and sulk. Boo Hoo. If they won't participate they don't deserve any say in the shape their new government will take. It's like the ignorant a-holes here in the US who like to gripe about the government but can't be bothered to vote. I say the vote will be legitimate whether or not Sunni politicians decide to run or sunni citizens vote. If they want to go sulk because they aren't a majority they'll get nothing and they damn well better like it.
That concludes my rant for today. Thank You All.

i agree pretty much. but a lot of them are in insecure areas where the sunni leaders threaten to kill them if they vote. always a deterrent. but if the sunni leaders don't let their followers vote, they better not frikkin complain when they lose power.
Why should they accept a model of government foisted on them by an invading army?

Cause Bush talks to God.

exactly!! The elections are not legitimate. They are being offered puppets therefore the election is a farce.

I am sure the Sunni's don't really care. If they were interested in participating in the puppet government why would they bother with all the fighting? Sooner or later the US will get tired of scraping GI guts out of burned out Humvees and will withdraw from that particularly wretched country at which point the insurgents will seize power and behead every politician foolish enough to have sided with the Coalition.

Because they can change the government if they participate. If they choose not to then they can suck it.

They could pick their own representatives. Any of them could have run. Puppet government? I don't think so, pal.

Dude the Prime Minister the USA installed was a former CIA asset. How much more of a puppet can you get?

See, the problem with a majority-elected government is that it really sucks to be a minority. I'm far from convinced (and the Sunnis seem to agree) that the Iraq model will work fairly for all concerned. Therefore, I suggest it's not a good model.

He can be voted out later if the people don't want him. If we really wanted a puppet government why didn't we pick the candidates and parties that would be allowed to run instead of letting people come foreward of their own will?
