just interesting question (poll coming): do you think mostly about yourself and your needs, or those of others?
i'm thinking more and more lately that politics, philosophy, and nearly every action we take in life are grounded in core ethics. this is, to me, one of the most 'core'.
Others...with every passing day I realise how little I actually NEED in terms of material things, and how wanting a bit less can make a big difference in the lives of others (in terms of the environment, and sustainability). I also worry about the world my girls are going to grow up in, and I hope that worrying more about others instead of myself will help me to contribute meaningfully to a situation that benefits many instead of few.
That being said, it can be a lot harder at times than I think....(major societal change is a bit beyond me in reality)
then again, it can be a lot easier too (recycling, using alternative energy, just being POLITE).

well said. that's my feelings too - the less i think i want, the more i can give to others. this is incredibly hard to do as a student (and a lazy one at that) but in the long run - certainly if more people adopted our way of thinking - perhaps the world would be a better place to live in.
somehow there needs to be some concerted action towards this goal.

You're both liars.
Everyone is selfish. Even in your relationships, you're selfish. Even in "selfless" acts, you're selfish, because you're doing them to acheive your own selfish desires.

As usual with polls on here, there are insufficient options. :headbang:
It's all about me with me. :)

maybe so - its a value judgement so who can say for sure?
all i know is that i try hard to think of others and put them first. of course this isn't always possible but at least i try not to be overly selfish. hell, i don't even like myself :p
