The economics of villany...

I really need to thank you people; you've helped me yet again.

I had a little touch of writers block on a story I'm writing; its the third in a little series about my friends as bored superheroes in a small town. Long story short I was just uninspired towards the end, I knew what I had to write, but not how to make it fun and interesting.

You just fixed all of that.

I'm proud to say I have stumbled on a revelation in the economic theories of villany! Do you know why the even mightest of villians, from Skeletor to Mecha-Hitler, sits patiently at the back of the room and waits for the heroes to cut their way through hordes of minions? Even when simply stepping in right at the begining would crush the unsuspecting do-gooder in seconds?

Simple! Its economical. Look at it this way; every ninja, every mage, every street punk and wobbling ball of putrid slime has been hired or coerced into helping the big bad guy. That means there's a LOT of paychecks that need to be paid, and the bigger the army, the more they cost! Mini-bosses cost more, some Plant-related minions might be able to work for less than minmum wage, so on and soforth...

In order to avoid paying out millions in fees, all the villian really needs to do is let his mighty hordes of darkness get carved up by a bunch of heroes! It reduces overhead, and makes for a more exciting Villanous experience overall.

Thanks you, for indirectly leading me to this startling revelation; my story's villian now has something to talk about in a key fight scene. My heroes can now banter about how they're saving him money even as they fight the endless hordes of the nightmare dark!

And all of this from a thread about what martial arts people have studied.

For all this assistance, machiavell, I expect to see results! It just wouldn't be right for us to be so critical in your efforts, and then not to show us all the fruits of your labour.

(Although I'm fully aware that I haven't had any part in your revelation.)

True enough. I suppose I should post some of the stuff. Problem is, they are a tad bigger than the forum format would allow, and I don't have a good site to link them to otherwise.

Any ideas?
