Hear, hear! Although I've always had a soft spot for historical biographies too, especially those with dirt and gossip; Suetonius, Plutarch et cetera.

Actually I find it to be most interesting. Learning about campaigns and battles, epecially those that changed the tide of war can be quite fun to read up on.
