Sean Penn Reflects on His 2002 Letter to 'Washington Post' on War

NEW YORK In the transcript of an interview with the Boston Globe's Ty Burr, published this weekend on the newspaper's Web site, actor/activist Sean Penn reflected on the criticism he received in the media around his two visits to Iraq.

"I wrote a letter to the Washington Post a couple of years ago, before we went into the war," Penn said. "The very things I was criticized for saying then are now being reported by Bill O'Reilly. I was criticized for suggesting the possibility there were no weapons of mass destruction.

"But the bigger issue is that it's an absolutely stupid notion that you should take the title of someone's profession and attach it to what they should not do. It has nothing to do with citizenry. I think they should shove it with their hypocritical Ronald Reagan standard right up their ass."

Sorry Sean, but if you do that, please lube up as I don't want to get ripped like I did when I saw your crappy movies!

What does he mean by this: "But the bigger issue is that it's an absolutely stupid notion that you should take the title of someone's profession and attach it to what they should not do."

He is saying you shouldn't blow someone off because they are an actor.
I wonder who was a better actor though, Sean or Ronnie? Any impartial film buffs have any ideas?
Cannot think of a name

Ronald was never really that great of an actor, more notorious for politicing the actor community (heading the guild) and selling out friends to McCarthy.

Maybe his best work is as a villian in The Killers, but that might be bias in that I think the other movies are more or less unwatchable.

Though I don't really like Sean Penn for the most part, when he doesn't have to carry a movie he does a pretty good job, such as in Carlito's Way

Have you ever seen "sweet and low down"? It is pretty good, Sean does a fantastic job portraying a 1930's jazz musician. I think it is one of Woody Allen's best works.
