...what would it be?
For me, I'd change where my girlfriend lives and have her live near me instead of in California, so we could be together.

I would change toilet doors so they don't have door handles and just swing open (with locks on the inside of course). When you're in a rush you don't want to have to bother with door handles.

I really could change one thing, I honestly believe that I would choose for all humans to die right now. Nature would experience a brief shock, but I believe that it would restore itself to its previous grandeur given enough time without human interference. If it was possible, I would make it so that all humans became environmentally conscious, and try to live more harmoniously with nature instead of trying to conquer it. But that is just too farfetched to even imagine...

What, so you mean like most toilet cubicles have already?
I think I would change...I'm not sure really. One change wouldn't be enough, maybe just make it so that everybody knew I was right about everything all the time (would make my life easier at any rate :p ) ;)

I'd get rid of foreign languages. I don't care which language we would all speak so long as it was the same one. (As part of what I do is teaching English as a foreign language and translation, I am shooting myself in the foot, but it is still the one major improvement I would make.)

I'm talking about home toilets.
In fact, I would get rid of doorknobs altogether. I get my shirts caught on them. I hate it when I rip a shirt.

We wouldn't get anywhere without greed.
More greed!
Greed for knowledge, greed for success, greed for happiness, greed for achievement.
Without any greed, we are apathetic sheep.

There's nothing wrong with apathy.
Mood I'm in currently? Two words.
Everybody. Dead.
People are bigoted, close-minded, arrogant jerks. And those who aren't, either might become so, or might produce spawn that would be so. Better if everyone was just dead.

If I could change one thing about the world, it would be to allow me to change as many things about all worlds, universes and dimensions as I wanted to change (or to keep as they are).
Then, the first thing I would change on earth would be to make sure that every person loves God with all of their heart, and with all their soul, and with all their mind, and with all their strength.
And the second thing I would do would be to assure that every person loves their neighbor, with "neighbor" being defined as any person on the earth. Therefore, every person would love every other person.
After this, I would change things back to as they were before I had all of that power (except for all people loving God and loving each other), because I'm certain I would be exhausted. Of course, as a result of this change by me, I believe the world would be a tad better than before I changed it.

If you have to force them to love God, what's the point? It's like wasting a wish on making someone love you... they only do it because of the magic/whatever, not because they really feel it.
I wouldn't be *me* if you made me believe in God.

Thanks, Shaed. That is a great point. Having reflected on your words, then, if I could change any one thing in the world, I would not change anything more than the things I change without that special power. In other words, the things that I change today will be those things before having that ability.

Continuing on my changing things mode, now I will change the things I am touching by continuing on my "to-do" list today (Jan. 12, 2005) -- here (Florida). I will read my daily Bible verses. I will oil that squeaky door. I will prep for tomorrow's job interview.

Now that is wisdom.
Mmmmh. Power? Money? Opposite gender approval? All idealists at heart, we are. Except for the fundies.
Meh. Do you see me going around wishing everyone was agnostic?
Well, take that. If I could change this one thing, every single person who ever used religion to further his own egoistic objective would immediately be compelled to shout out "I'm a hypocrite and I know it!"
Or scrap that. How about making it impossible to ever think a single thought, hear or read a single word without questioning its correctness? It would get rid of a lot of troubles.
Or would it? ;)

I would make sure that everyone who needs SOcial Security--notthe AMerican INstitution, but real Social Security.
Would have it, it is one thing to be young and have to srape by, but once a person anywhere in the world reaches a certain age, they have done their time and paid their dues--they deserve to rest.
I dont know how I would ensure the comfort of the elderly, retired and infirm--but that is what I would change, you didnt ask how you just asked what.
Well, take that. If I could change this one thing, every single person who ever used religion to further his own egoistic objective would immediately be compelled to shout out "I'm a hypocrite and I know it!"
I would love to see that, I would piss my pants laughing.
However dont think that Agnostic and Atheists have not USED religion for hypocritical justifications---Just to see all those people shout that out made me laugh when I read it.
Or scrap that. How about making it impossible to ever think a single thought, hear or read a single word without questioning its correctness? It would get rid of a lot of troubles.
Christian and I already do that--so that wouldnt be much fun for me.
Or would it? ;)
Well if your objective is to end faith in things then great.
Faith is derived from trust.
So, you would be removing every good samaritan in the world immediately--why?
Because they second guess themselves trying to decide why an act was correct.
Is their morality the CORRECT morality.
Is their reason for wishing to help the CORRECT reason.
IS their ...oh look he bled to death.
AM I wasting this money to day on the INCORRECT item when the CORRECT item will come tommorow? Is that the CORRECT question?
Is CORRECT for me to be asking if my questions are CORRECT...and so forth and so on. Bad idea.
I'd get rid of humanity's opposable thumb.
We're just not ready for that kind of responsibility.
