Grotesque! Methinks the dulcet tones of the horn make those of a trombone seem brash. :p

Other: I tortured music by attempting to play the viola while in school. All viola jokes (http://www.petelevin.com/violajokes.htm) were spawned by me. Fortunately I gave up the nasty habit.

Why do Violists get antsy when they see the Kama Sutra?
They can't handle any subject reference to "more than one position".

What do a SCUD missile and a Viola player have in common?
They're both offensive and inaccurate.

Why is a Violist like a terrorist?
They both mangle the bowings.

What's the difference between a Violist and a prostitute?
A prostitute keeps better tempo.

What's the difference between a Violin and a Viola?
A Viola burns longer.

And do you know WHY the Viola burns longer?
It's usually still in the case.

Definition of a gentleman:
A man who knows how to play the viola ... but doesn't.

Why do people get nervous when someone walks into a bank carrying a Viola case?
It might actually contain a Viola - and he might take it out and play it.

If a tree falls on a Viola in the forest and nobody hears it, is there a sound?
Yes. The sound of applause (as soon as the word gets around).

Why did the chicken cross the road?
To get away from a Viola recital.

Why don't orchestrators indicate Scordatura in Viola parts?
The instrument is already detuned; It would just confuse the player.

What is the longest Viola joke?
Harold in Italy

What does "subito piano" mean?
There's about to be a 4th desk Viola solo.

What do you call two Viola players playing in unison?
Counterpoint.

What's the difference between the first and last desk of a Viola section?
Usually not more than a couple of beats.

How do you know there's a group of Viola players at your door?
They're all lost, nobody has the key, and they all come in at different times.

:D

Electric guitar. Played the acoustic when I was about 7 years old but quit after like two years or so. Resumed playing like a year ago (am 16 and 9 months now) and it´s pretty decent. And just to brag a little: doing some Malmsteen stuff :P. But anyways, I´ve been to lazy to hire a teacher so I´m basically trying to remember everything from when I played it before, so I´m (for now) self taught.
And I got this little effect-pedal not so long ago which makes the guitar sound like a nintendo game. ^^

And fairly (very according to friends) decent on drums. Double bass yeah! \m/

Well, I don´t really play drums regularly. It´s just fun to do so once in a while, since I couldn´t possibly fit drums in my room! :)

But it is great fun hitting things that hard, :P. My aggressive thoughts just vanish after a somewhat fast tempo speed metal song, ^^

I play bass guitar regularly, and according to friends, am actually decent. My main instrument, however, is double bass. I've been playing it for 5 years, starrting in elementary school strings class, and now 1st stand in high school band. I love the instrument, particularly full size 4/4 specimens, but all of mu experience is on 3/4 size instruments. There's something especially impressive about an instrument that's taller than you are.

I will have to agree with Stormforge. Low brass is the GREATEST section of any ensemble. I mean, I know I have a bias opinion. But having played sousaphone in marching band, I absolutely LOVE the power that the low brass can exert. Woodwinds can't even be heard because they're too busy worrying about their precious reeds. Trumpets are just obnoxious and should all have mutes. Horns....hmm....horns aren't needed. The baritones can always cover their part. But one section remains: the percussion. Depending on how large the percussion section is, they can be absolutely amazing or disgusting. Massive armies of percussionists in ONE marching band are not suitable at all. Drummer have to have heart; that is what makes them outstanding. Go ahead and bash me. But this is coming from the 04-05 MVP of the Mighty Mercer Mustang Marching Machine. We are a force to be reckoned with. :p
