Circumsision

Circumsision: Yes, or no? Does it depend upon if you have a boy or a girl? Guys, anyone here been circumsized and wished they wern't? Anyone uncircumcized and want to be?
Ladies, which do you prefer? Either? Both? Are there any females who have been circumcized? Are there any who want to be? I know Oprah does not like the idea of this form of mutulation, so why inflict it on men/boys?
I know it was done because of hygene reasons, but in the modern world where people have showers daily don't we have enough water and cleanliness not to have to continue the practice?
Personally I would not circumsise my offspring and I am glad that I am not myself. As I understand it 1/3 of all the penis nerves are in the foreskin (what is snipped off), plus it looks painful for the baby and there are things that can go wrong.
I feel sorry for Jews reading this, the Arabs get oil and you have your ends cut off. Seems brutal to me.
i think i want to be circumsised just b/c i find it hard to use a condom and pull it back feels like its going to get stuck like that so not having it just seems easyier

Going to get stuck? What on earth...
And god no woman would want to get circumsised, it's a horridly painful practice that causes so many diseases. I know some people crap on about how circumsision helps protect from infection) which is bulshit because it's the equivalent of cutting off your eye lids) but for woman its only religious and the pain continues on to older age.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the majority of doctors perform circumcision after birth without informing the parents? Simply because it's more hygenic?
Again, I could be wrong.

Female circumsision is pretty disgusting in my opinion. Makes it pretty difficult to experience pleasure during sex (impossible really). But for men, it doesn't really effect anything, I'm not sure of the benefits, but I'm not a genius on this subject, or any other subject for that matter.

I don't think that's legal in AMerica, however, it wouldnt' suprise me if the doctor does it without permission, because the parents won't make too much of a big deal about it. But latelly, we have all this malpractice shit goin' down, so they might not do it anymore. Best not to risk it.

Ah - it just takes practice! I admit I was a little freaked out when I first tried it, but now - it's easy as pie!
Some girls (not all) will "assist" you in putting it on, it becomes part of foreplay. Also - it freaks some girls out! Try asking your girl/boyfriend
Also - practice putting it on alone - there's nothing more embarressing than having a panic trying to unfurl the damn thing! Hasn't happened to me yet though - I still have my dignity ;)

You may suffer from something called "phimosis" (http://www.male-initiation.net/phimosis.html), i.e. a narrowing of the foreskin which makes it difficult to retract it over the glans (the head of the penis). Often when someone with phimosis retracts the foreskin it gets stuck behind the ridge (or "corona") of the glans, a condition called paraphimosis, which can be dangerous because it can block the blood supply to the glans. Maybe you should have someone look at it? Doesn't have to be a doctor (although a doctor would be able to tell if it's anything or not), but maybe your dad or an older brother?

Female circumcision is nothing like what guys go through. It includes cutting out the clitoris, which means no pleasure of course, and sewing together the labia so that they must be ripped apart to have sex. It's disgusting. NO WOMAN WANTS THAT.

Circumcision... I can't imagine:
"Here's a baby. What could I do with it. Well, I'll cut a piece off and see what happens."
Circumcision should be done voluntary and done in the late teens if it's going to be done at all without a good medical reason. This cutting pieces off babies for no good reason is sick, and anyone doing it should be put in jail.

I HAD to have it done when I was about 5, because of medical reasons. I'm almost 18 now, and as I had no choice in the matter, I don't really have much of an opinion on it, especially as I can't remember what it was like when I wasn't circumsised. The only bad thing is that it was VERY painful (I really can't describe what the pain felt like), even at such a young age, and knowing what the pain felt like, I wouldn't advise anyone to have it done, apart from medical reasons like myself.

Shivered just thinking about it. Just girls if you wanna get the idea, it would be the nerve response of cutting off a nipple times 2.

Actualy, that is only one type of procedure that falls under the heading of"female circumcision" Other procedures are far less devestating. Some just involve careful removal of the clitoral hood, which is very much like the male foreskin. Supposedly, this is more aesteticly pleasing.
On a similar note, there is a chasitiy enforcement procedure in which a male's forskin will be pireced with a wire which is then welded shut, so he can't get errections.

OMg, that almost made me bawl thinking about it. Ouch ouch ouch! Why on earth, is there not a law against stuff like that *runs away from the thread for a moment whilst he recovers from the idea*

Circumcision is plain old disgusting genital mutilation. Should never be practiced on the unwilling or infants unable to consent. I am certain that almost no one would let someone cut off a chunk of their penis unless it was for legitimate medical purposes that couldn't be addressed any other way. I know of NO (in spite of that stupid Nip/Tuck show) man who was uncircumcised who later decided to have it done. However, there are some FREAKS out in the world who like to do things like peirce their penises and split them down the middle (no lie, I have seen pictures...horrible, terrible pictures) or tie weights to them, rendering them usless for most of the normal purposes of having a penis...but as long as they are consenting adults who make the choice to fuck up their johnson of their own volition, I say let 'em do it. I can not even fathom a woman wanting to remove her clitoris, let alone expose it to the world permanently. I would think removing the clitoral hood would have the same effects as removing a foreskin, like thickening of the tissue, reduced pleasure and sexual response, more stimulation required to achieve orgasm, irritation from contact with rough clothing, etc. Sounds pretty awful to me. Glad I was born in Japan, where the practice is considered barbaric.
Jews have been doing it for thousands of years.... and we turned out fine.
Female circumcision is completely different though...

Human skin is amazingly elastic. The chances of the foreskin staying permanently retracted is minute. I suspect that you may still be in your early teen years? If so then you might want to give your body a few more years before you think about having sex anyhow. A mature erection will automatically lead to the full retraction of the foreskin. If you are still in your early teenage years you may want to experiment gently with retracting the foreskin: yes, it does feel very strange and somewhat disturbing the first couple of times, but there is nothing to fear.
As a side note: why go to the effort of having your foreskin surgically removed in order to avoid the imagined possibility of it being permanently out of the way?

Yes, why not? There's nothing wrong with circumcision.

Yup, I had seen and read that, but just wanted to add a reassuring voice that although retraction of the foreskin may feel odd at first, this does not necessarilly mean that medical attention is required: if nothing else you are exposing skin to the air which has previously rested only against other skin and experiencing (to be honest) quite a strange physical mechanism.

Indeed, but even then you shouldn't have the sensation of it getting stuck - if it retracts fully "automatically" upon erection that shouldn't be the case, and if it doesn't, and he has to do it himself and it feels like he says he does, then there is cause for concern. He should have it checked out, especially if he is old enough to have to start dealing with condoms and hasn't had his glans exposed previously - to me it sounds as if it's maybe like that because he hasn't been able to. Masturbation alone should have made him expose his glans a long time ago, something that often doesn't happen in children with phimosis, who adapt different and unorthodox ways of masturbating with the prepuce still covering the glans.

I live in Sweden, where (as it seems to me, at least) male circumcision is relatively uncommon. Most of my sex partners have been uncircumcised, and I can't really say that I care if my partner still has his foreskin or not.
With that said, I must add that I think it is TOTALLY immoral for parents to circumcise their sons (for any reasons save medical ones). Parents do not own their children's bodies, and a circumcision can't be undone. The decision must be the child's to make when he has reached a proper age.

I'm not saying that everyone has a problem with being unconsentually circumcised, but that parents don't have the moral right to do something to their child with physical effects that can't be undone. I wouldn't even pierce my kids' ears without their consent.

I can understand that. My cousin had her baby's ears pierced about a month back. I thought it was kind of stupid.

I think some people are overly concerned about their penises. Honestly, your penis is the way it is right now. Deal with it! And stop talking about it to me cuz it's creeping me out!

Female circumcision is legally considered "female genital mutilation" and is illegal under international law.
http://www.un.org/geninfo/faq/factsheets/FS3.HTM
On the other hand, male circumcision is more acceptable. Whether or not it is morally acceptable (I don't think parents should force it on children, but I do understand that it's almost always for traditional religious reasons).
I'm not circumcised and I've never found any great problems with it. However, I must say that I am...underinformed, as it were, on the sexual implications of this. Oh well.

Personally i think babies shouldnt be circumsised because theyve not a had a choice in the matter, it doesnt matter whether or not it doesnt seem to matter it should be a choice you make yourself not something someone makes for me.
I am aware that some poeple who were not circumsised do so later in life but frankly i cant imagine why, life is easier with a foreskin and i definitly prefer an uncircumsised penis, although this is mostly because im unsure how to deal with it :P. Not that this owuld bother most of you :D.

im not circumsized (sp) and truthully i dont want to be.. much less does my girl want me to be.. she can tease me more that way lol no seriously though.. no.. i dont want to be cause well.. its a religeous thing and yea.. as for women.. im sory.. but why would a woman want her clit cut off? the main reason for that is because men didnt want women to be adultresses for pleasure so cutting the clit off cuts out on their pleasure.. so.. yea...

Well I decided when my son was born to basically insist that he was NOT circumsised, and believe me the doctors and nurses tried their damndest to make me change my mind.(I am in the US) I think that that bit is obviously there for a reason and I am not going to have him cut without a good damn reason. And he is fine now, no infection issues, he knows how important it is to clean carefully there so there isnt any... and as far as my personal preference goes... well i have had both and actually I like uncircumsised better.. *smiles* then it is kind of like unwrapping a present and I also like the look of them better..lol Good thing my fiancee is uncut eh? *grins*

as to femal genital mutilation, anyone who does that shit should be forced to endure mutilation themselves - for life. so yeah there is my point of view

I am in my early 20's and my foreskin does NOT retract on it's own, so don't feel like you're a freak!;) You are far from alone! Personally I never read the instructions on a box of condoms, nor do I roll back my foreskin before I use one. I find the rubbing of the latex irritating on my sensitive head, so I'd rather it be rubbed against soft, smooth skin. I do 'unwrap' it for oral sex as it reveals the more sensitive areas to stimulation.

Like I said, more hygenic back in the days of not having clean running water to be able to shower in daily. As for it not affecting men, 1/3 of the nerve endings gone, snip, snip! That would affect me!
Anyway guys (and girls) I thank you for you valued input and opinions.:)
