I have just come back from seeing the movgie white noise and it was pretty good but im not here to talk about the movie. Im going to sate what i think ghost are and my thoughts about them. Im going to warn every single person that reads this thread thaqt i believe in God and i will use christianty in part of my thoughts. I DONT WANT THIS THREAD TO TURN INTO A "IS GOd REAL THREAD". I just want your thoughts on what you think ghosts are. And please just dont come in and say they dont exist. Tell us why you think they dont exist. Now enough of this rambling and on with my thoughts.


As i have said upove i am a christian. I was raised that way and always will be. A few years ago i got into into the habitat of looking up ghosts,aliens,etc. Then i realized something. How can there be ghosts if we either go to heaven or hell?? I casted aside the thought and didnt think about till i heard about the movie White noise and about EVP. So then i began my search on the net for EVp files of ghosts saying what was it like in the after life or was there really a heaven and a hell. Then i searched for what God says about ghosts and found many sites and i came up with this conclusion. There are no ghosts. At least not spirts of the dead. If anyone is really christian out there they must know when you die there aint no coming back( unless your Jesus of course)). Your either stuck in forever pardise or forever suffering. Then what are these things people see. The poltergeists and shadowy figures. They are demons. Yes demons. Sent by Satan to trick you in believing in something that is not true. Here looks at this statement from the bible. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try [test] the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (2) Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: (3) And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. (4) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (5) They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. (6) We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error." Now what this basically says they are spirts but in other words angels OR demons. Now think for a moment. If Satan wants to trick you and make you suffer then why not use one of his demons to make themselfs look like an angel or a recently dead fiend or relative. People tend to forget things while under emotional trauma. Satan uses this to his advantage and sends a demon to trick your mind into believing in what he says. I mean a spirt or your family member cant be wrong since there dead and live on the other side and habve seen it and you have not. Thus making you believe in false gods and such. On ghosts though the bible is realtivley slient. On a few occasion mediums and fortune tellers are discussed. Now some onnce asked me why can mediums contact ghosts?? Once again thays satan working threw them. Making the people who lost a loved one really believe that there loved ones soul is still with them and guiding them. Satan or his demon(s) temproaly take control of the medium and speak lies.

Im done saying what iI have to say and i have another theory but I might explain that one later if no one else doesnt. My second one is less God like and more human like.

I put precisely zero stock in the existence of ghosts.

I do not believe ghosts are spirits of the dead for this reason:
In the Bible it says that the dead cannot come back to the earth once gone, whether to Heaven or Hell, you are stuck there until the end times

I think that ghosts are demons or beasts formed by the mixture of demons and 'normal' humans/animals

I don't know what ghosts are...

My Grandad has been dead for 6 years but he took the trouble to come and see his great grandson last year. I know that's not the norm for the average human being but I don't know if his visit comes under the "ghost" category since I only heard his voice and had a sense of his presence in the room. I didn't see anything and Luke slept through the event. And I was sober.

Maybe we put too much faith in the solidity of the firmament? Maybe there's more to life than what we constantly see, and the phrase "ghost" is just a convenient term for our deeper feelings to deal with scorn?

Interesting idea but i gotta put it down. Yes the bad spirts are spawned from Hell and the good spirts are angels. Example of a good spirt: The one that appeared to the Virgin Mary. Satan's demons can change to look like friendly spirts and you can test them. Look upove and look at my quote that i took.

What i was trying to say is that i dont think the "spirts" were misture od demons with humans/snimal. Why go threw all when you can become a "spirt" at will??

Lazarus came back. And there's also purgatory. I feel that ghosts are just echos of people. They aren't exactly one person, but multiple people merged together to be able to do anything.

I am surprised... Zackaroth seems to have the same idea as myself about ghosts/demons. But I would add that these spirits could also be angels... hence they should “tested” to find out if they are from God or not.

btw... I think Culex was saying that spirits can take control of people or animals, which is supported by the Bible. There were numerous examples of demon possessed people, and in one instance, demons went into a herd of pigs.

edit: Lazarus came back from the dead, sure, but very few people did. And technically I am not sure where they were before they came back, but in the parable about the rich man and Lazarus (a different Lazarus), Jesus said that Lazarus was being comforted by Abraham, while the rich man went directly to a place of torment. This would seem to indicate that there is not a “holding place” until judgement, or if there is, there is a heaven/hell of this as well, since the rich man and Lazarus clearly went to different places. And this was not after the end-time judgement, because the rich man wanted to come back and warn his relatives of what would happen to them, and was not allowed to.

I think ghosts are impressions of things that once were or messages from souls in transit.

ghosts are interesting... when i think of ghosts.. i am reminded of that palace in england.. that really haunted one. i remember seeing on the news footage of a ghost (or was it?) opening a door when there were complaints about a door always being open when it was meant to be locked... kinda freaked me out a bit...

but anyway i say ghosts are spirits.. and i definately believe in spirits. angels and demons are spirits too of course. the term angel, for me, is like a job title of a spirit, aka messenger of God. hmmm but i guess when you say ghost you refer to human souls living on this world after death... i dont know about that, it could be possible ? hmmm i guess i think that when souls enter purgatory, they could be sent anywhere untill they are purified.

to me heaven and hell are a state of mind, so to speak, and thinking of them as places makes it easier to understand. and since i believe that they are a state, then where do the spirits go? i guess thats what i can leave.

Agonistic/atheist side: If we cannot prove something exists, it serves no purpose to believe in it.

Other side, side that has seen a ghost, and had true, phophetic dreams (nothing useful, but stuff like, who stole my mech-pencil? the nice one with the wooden barrels....): yes, ghosts are real.

Well the phenomenom is real based on personal experience, what it is I would not begin to speculate and I certainly would not be inclined to leap to the conclusion it had anything to do with disembodied spirits.

I was at a 100+ year old cabin of a high school bud of mine on a lake in northern Maine. The guest rooms had twin beds. The lights were out. I was sitting up in bed talking to my wife who was nursing our baby daughter in the other bed. I saw what I thought was my wife getting up to bring me our daughter and reached up to turn on the light. As I was reaching I realized the woman with a baby coming toward me was dressed in eastern european peasant dress ( shawl wrapped over the head and around the shoulders, floor length skirt, etc.) and she passed through my bed and out the cabin wall. My wife affirms I was talking to her right up to the moment the light came on so I had not drifted off to sleep. We had not been using any mind altering substances either vegetable, chemical or distilled grain.

As I said, I have no clue what triggered the phenomenon and certainly do not rule out that it was entirely within my own head, but I have little doubt it is what many folks report as "seeing ghost".

I think most ghost sightings are simply the result of peoples imagination.
