How much have you donated to the tsunami relief effort?

I donated $3, which was all I had on me, to my high school's tsunami relief collection. That was my lunch money too. I was starving all day. But hey, it goes to someone who's been starving for a longer time, right?

Please say yes.

Currently my school is doing a fundraiser, started today actually. I'm planning to wait to see if they have a raffle or something, but if they don't then I will donate ~$30. I know it's not much, but.... well I really don't have all that much money as a high school student.

Rm50 (USD $13.16)

Not much, but heck. Thats my lunch for next 5-7 days. Probably with the conversion rate, it'll feed a Indonesian for twice as long.

Every time I leave the shop there's one outside. I always give my bum change and sometimes notes.

IMO i'll prefer to buy him food if possible. Sometimes giving cash, they'll get cigarettes or more alcohol.

I offered to donate my time. I offered to go over there and clown for the orphaned children. They watched my act. Then they asked me to donate canned goods instead. :(

I donated 10 euros (about 13 dollars) for the Red Cross. I also am donater for the UNICEF children through my country's own UNICEF programme. I donate 10 euros every month there. I think they use that money for the suffering children there in Asia.

I think it's only an excuse to say that don't have money because studying etc. I'm a student and I still can afford to pay such a small amount for the suffering. My 13 dollars will put one kid to school for a year. For 20 euros (26 dollars) one children will get 6 vaccination against deadly deceases. So not a waste at all! And if I didn't donate it, I would use it to something useless. It's quite easy to save 13 dollars a month.

We had somebody here who donated 100 000 euros = 130 000 dollars. Now that's something, I'd say!

No, I haven't donated a dime, and I don't plan on doing so. I have more pressing needs: Paying for university, paying for textbooks, rent, bills, food...

If I could donate time, I would rather do that... but unfortunately, that, too, is impossible.

Even the charity organizations are saying that if you can donate anything but money, at this time, it would be better. Right now, the money isn't being used, so, donating canned goods, clothes, etc. would be a much more worthwhile cause in the long run than donating money that hasn't been divided, yet.

I'm with Tuesday Heights... I'd rather go over there and help them rebuild their shattered communities than donate any more money. I've donated £5 and a load of dalasi (which isn't much anyway) and I intend to donate no more. It's about time we started seeing the results of the billions already pledged.

I don't know where you are, but we've already seen some effects of the donations in our region, medicine and food leave Australia frequently, mostly for Indonesia, taken by our under-appreciated troops.

I too would donate my time, however aid agencies here have been so overwhelmed with volunteers that they cannot handle anymore because of the volume. I read doctors without borders [Medico Sans Frontier (sic)] are no longer accepting either money or volunteers because they are swamped.

It's true that they have enough donations for their project already. However, they were clear in their communication that they don't speack for all NGOs. They were clear that their business was medical assistance and that they're not involved in any other business. And several other organisations were clear when they said more was needed.
Give if you can. Don't if you can't.

I feel for the tsunami relife effort I realy do, but is it just me or has this turned into a political weiner messuring contest? All I ever hear is which country is donating the most money and 5 minutes later who exceeded them! It feels like they care more about donating the most out of all the countries than whats actualy happening.

Very true, but better than the cold war:
"We have nukes, you don't!"
"I have biggest nuclear arsenal now."
"No, I have the biggest nuclear arsenal."
"No, I do, but my people starve."
"We'll send you broke with STARWARS."

About 20 bucks.

I tried to convince my mother to let me go over as an aid worker with a local church a few of my friends go to, but she denied the request. I'll just keep donating 20 or so bucks off every paycheck.

I plan to match the money I received for Christmas (£140, combined presents from several relatives, which is strange because I'm 30 and haven't receved money as presents for years) with donations, as well as spend the 'original' amount on "something I'd like".

The only reason I haven't yet done so is that there are several possible charitable bodies (Red Cross, dec.org.uk, etc) and I haven't decided which one(s) to favour, but I will.
