This is to figure out who, in the opinion of the genral populace, is the best debator on NS. Please choose on who makes presents their points the best, with the best logic, most credibility, etc... not on who you most agree with. So who is it?

Dempublicents is the first one that comes to my mind. His knowledge on subjects makes him very authoritative in my mind, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for him.

AnarchyLE and Dempublicants (sp? for both of them :D ) comes to mind first this, though Dem can be tempermental at times...

Not certain "Best" is a very good term in this regaurd.

But I have to say that East Canuck and Cornilue (sp?) are two that I have throughly enjoyed discussing things with.

I certainly dont agree with East Canuck's veiwpoint, but I have to admit that he makes his points well and on a few occasions I have had to acknowledge that he was right. When I have done so he has not tried to "twist the knife" nor performed any victory dances, at least not here anyway....*blinking furiously to try to block a very scary mental image*

Also East Canuck is honorable enough to admit when the shoe in on the other foot, and does so as gracefully.

Dempublicents also makes their points well, and as far as I have seen, does not descend into flamming make them stick. An intellegent and thoughtful person. However I dont believe that I have had a discussion with Dempublicants at lenght yet, just few passing remarks.

Cornilue makes his points well and maintains his cool even when flamed pretty throughly by people who are using less than half the wit and logic he is, something I fear I could not do.

So those are my two favorites and one I think is likely to be as good, and I respect all of them.

Yeah, pretty much. Throw in Psylos too, he's always there to back up his beliefs.

No such thing as Best Debater, I call them Best Flammer becasue thats what ALL debates on NS turn out to be, Flames.

I haven't been around that long, so I haven't seen all the debates, but I have been impressed with some of Bodies Without Organs' arguments.

I used to enjoy Iokeokeo debating. Though he belittles people. And got kicked long time ago though. :D

I'm sure lots of Socialist and Communist here would hate his guts. But he's funny! :p

DeaconDave was all right by me... He got a little testy when he felt like he was losing, but overall he was pretty smart.

I don't know how great are my debating skills... but I like to think I am capable of acknowledging a good point when it has been made.

Personally, that is the sort of person with whom I enjoy debating: one who will admit when he/she is wrong.

I debate better on the net because people can't use my accent as an excuse to assume that I'm a moron.(Why is there some kind of stigma attached to Southern accents? o.O) Of course, I really think having virtually unlimited resources at my fingertips has more to do with it. It's easier to back up what I'm saying with facts when I can do a little quick research before posting a message.

Depends...it can be annoying when debating some 13 year old who is just copying nonsense from google...but it is nice to have time to think before responding.

+ Dobbs Town. others have impressed me (and often made me shut my big trap... or stop typing... whatever) but only those two come to mind right now.

You should have a poll with some of the top debaters on it.

It's not me, I can tell you that much.

I'd have to say Graven idol and UpwardThrust, unlike Dempublicants and Nasopotemia, they are at least willing to look at more than one side of an issue and have a sense of humor. I agree that Dem and Nas are relatively knowledgeable and effective debators, but they generally debate with blinders on and have little sense of humor and tend to insult people they disagree with.

Since I doubt the adamant christians will get much love on this thread, I am going to say Neo Cannen. Anarchyel has done a pretty good job of arguing the applicable benefits of socialism.

And I liked DeaconDave as well, where did he go? :(

Actually, Von Witz makes a good point, I've always deeply admired MKULTRA's vigour.

I'd have to say Neo Cannen, he's good at what he debates. QahJoh for Israel debating, although he stopped a while back, he was a brilliant debater. Greenmanbry occasionally, when the mood takes him can be a great anti-Israel debater.
