I'm curious as to which system people generally use.

While I understand that Mac is now Unix based, I'm including them seperately so that I can see brand recognition and whatnot.

I play games, so I use Windows. If that weren't the case, I'd prefer to use Linux.

Windows. I have XP for newer stuff, but also have win98se, and as a result DOS, for all my ultra-nerdy retro gaming needs. :D

I use Windows XP because it's what came installed on this PC. At the place I used to work we had linux systems maintained by some guys who did creditable impressions of the zomies out of the Resident Evil games and after a few months the management opted for... Windows 98. I honestly didn't notice the difference, but it was nice to have so much time to sit around telling customers the system was down and then nipping out for a quiet smoke.

I'm abit off... (And abit too tech oriented)

I have 1 Windows 2000 Server RC2 AXP port machine, which is a Quad DEC Alpha 21264

Several Windows 2000 Server SP4 of varying types, from Pentium III 500's to AMD Athlon64's

Two Mandrake 10.1 based boxes, both AMD AthlonXP's

And a single lone G4 with OSX "Panther"

Oh, and I dug out the Atari, and its a 7800, not a 2600. Still plays 2600 games though, I think... but you're more retro than me. *lowers head in shame*

My new dual AMD64 (3500) Windows XP (gaming box)
Two 1.6 GHZ FreeBSD boxes (one running file server other one acting as a web/ftp/smtp)

Three P3’s one ubuntu one slackware then another FreeBSD … combo of firewall box … honeypot and a general network tool machine (loaded with all the goodies like nmap hping and so on so forth)

That’s as of right now … this weekend will probably have at least 1 if not 2 more thunderbirds coming up (1.2 ghz) pretty sure at least one is going back up on 2003 server to act as a domain controller

Windows for games, Linux for everything else, except checking websites in safari on the mac.

Btw the use of "owned" comes from starcraft where it would say "Player1 owned the map"

The use of "pwned" came from one map in starcraft where the map designer accidentally mis-spelt owned.

A lot of internet cliches come from starcraft, one of the most popular being the "kekekekekekeke" "OMGZERG RUSH!!!111" combination

Mandrake is easier and quicker. Only SuZe can compete with mandrake on ease of use, and maybe windows XP, to a lesser extend, but it doesn't provide the same services.

I dont know I found ubuntu easy as hell ... freeBSD was a little bit more but that was because of some of the advanced feautres or modifications (such as adding users to the wheel and such) all and all not really "hard"

Ubuntu was the only cannibalistic Linux, I had till now. During installation, it ate Gentoo (the partitioner had a bug and deleted the wrong partition)!

I like my SuSE since it just runs fine and my Gentoo because it always gives me a reason to become root and tweak things.
