Best quirky, eccentric, iconoclastic web radio?
I'm looking for new radio stations to listen to from around the country. The type of music is not important as long as they have a sense of individuality and go their own way. Non-commercial radio stations that aren't slaves to a corporate playlist.
Oh, and they need to be accessible through the web.
Any good recommendations?

Well, I like Air1 (http://www.air1.com/listen/), but it's Christian Rock, so I don't know if you would like it.

The Hour of Slack, the usually extremely entertaining offering from Ivan Stang and the Church of the Subgenius:

It's audio collages, Subgenius bands, improvs and rants about 'Bob Dobbs', 'X-day', and the Conspiracy to deprive Subgeniuses of Slack. Learn about your own Subgenius tendencies and embrace your true Yeti heritage...and don't forget about the bleeding head of Arnold Palmer.

I dig this source (http://live365.com/index.live) for internet radio.
I have a bunch of links for old time radio plays from there, one that talks about rpgs that I listened to once, one for comics(all in this catagory) (http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?genre=spoken%20word), one that plays pirate music (http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?searchgenre=&quality=0&genre=&searchdesc=port+sinister&x=0&y=0&searchfields=), one that plays surf (http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?searchgenre=&quality=0&genre=&searchdesc=secret+surf&x=0&y=0&searchfields=), and a pretty nice-one that does covers of video game themes (http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?searchgenre=&quality=0&genre=&searchdesc=spinning+invader&x=0&y=0&searchfields=).

Oh and radio 100 Netherlands is a great college radio station. I have no link, for I am lazy. Google should provide you with a quick result. The programs are bizarre to say the least. I recorded many hours of strange compositions involving air raid sirens, wolves howling, and very gritty reggae music drifting in and out of the speakers.
Check that out sometime.
I guess not too many people listen to on-line radio. Radio here in "Mousetown" sucks and is almost entirely formulaic and commercial so I have no choice but to seek out quality radio from the web.
www.kexp.org
Seattle-based alternative, hip-hop, world, etc. It was recommended to me by a friend. He listens more than I do, but I tend to enjoy it when I do tune in.

3RRR is a great radio station. Wide variety of music, views & reviews.

Or, if you live in Melbourne it's 102.7 FM.

Same here...
All the radio stations here are rap. There used to be an industrial station, but it turns out it was actually pirate radio, which I never found out until like 3 weeks after it stopped coming in. So I usually listen to online radio.
Unfortunately, I've just forgotten every singe online radio station I listen to and I don't have them written down or anything. I haven't listened to much music lately. I've been doing wierd things.
There was a very interesting station that did mostly 'space music' which I liked...
Forgot what it was called, though.

In spite of being a large-market station, WFNX in Boston used to be one of the alt-indy greats. Alas, they fell under the spell of rap-rock and a few years back had an unfortunate three-way with Limp Biskit and Kid Rock.
While they're definitely more mainstream than a decade ago, there's been a little return to form. They still have good late night programs and an uncharacteristic jazz/blues show on Sundays.

www.launch.yahoo.com
This is the ONLY radio station you willl ever need (and should you need others there are more available on the site other than the custom radio)
It is not any genre in particular because you choose the music you want to hear from a range of bands i am begining to think includes everyone ever.
Ranging From Britney Spears, Usher & 411 to Bjork, To Rococo Rot, The Postal Service and The Blue Oyster Cult.
There is nothing Yahoo cannot do (radio-wise, as a search engine its crap)
