I wish people would say "or something" more often.

I've come to the conclusion from the discussion that took place in the "believe in" thread that people should end more of their sentences with "or something" because it helps put things in perspecitive, like saying "Things are like this, or they aren't" and it'd help people understand that words are for communication and not they mean different things to different people... or something.

what else do you wish?

I think those comments may be directed at me...
But I actually do put things like that - just never exactly that. A quick skim of my posts usually leaves the ambiguities out, and this makes responses pretty heated, because they don't see how I see these things as possibilities and not as dogmas.
Many apologies.

I wish lots of things, they just come to me sometimes and I say them. Like I wish everyone had the time and inclination to actually research claims they make, but almost no one has either. And I wish that people could argue less without forfeiting the rewards of a productive argument. And I wish that my wishes would come true, but generally the only reason I wish them is because they are very unlikely to ever happen.

I didn't have anyone in particular in mind, but understanding what you do is the first step toward dealing with it, in my experience.

Well, there was a recent rash of posts in which people skimmed my posts, and left out a rather significant chunk of ambiguities - making them think I was some sort of zealot.
Ah, well, c'est la vie.

That is no fault of yours, in my view. Your posts are quite intelligent and thought-provoking, much more reasonable than most of the replies. I never got the impression that you were spouting dogmata. (I love foreign plurals)

Well, thank you. I did not intend you as a target of that, but several others in that thread *GLARES* were intended.
Much of the posts in General is thinly veiled flaming with the occasional fact or coherent opinion, but these often get swallowed up.
I find the NS forums the perfect proof of Plato's Torrent of Public Opinion, because that's simply what it is. Another reason I find it so enjoyable.
I have unfortunately become addicted to these forums - you never know what you're going to get. Hurled insults, witty reparte, humor, intelligent discussion on esoteric and down-to-earth issues ... or something. ;)

Really? Some of the threads on here have more flames than 50 divisions of troops armed with flamethrowers all killing each other on a hot July day in Hell.
Not all, though... or something.

I actually got put on someone's ignore list, without flaming them once (well, maybe I was a little sarcastic, but I didn't curse, and wasn't THAT insulting). By the way, what happens if you get put on someone's ignore list? Does that mean you can't see their threads or posts, or just that you can't contact them (though I'm not even sure how to do that) thru the forum? Oops, forgot, or something.

No idea, although that's what I expect would happen.
They must have been rather sensitive to take such a thing so harshly - and if theres one thing we rarely see on here, its sensitivity.

You're not being SARCASTIC, are you? ... or something. ;)
