The tsunami was a US conspiracy!!!! (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20050106/wl_asia_afp/asiaquakeconspiracy) Yup, the entire tsunami was caused by a secret US eco-weapon, most likely something along the lines of Captain Planet. What will they do next?

(Oh, for those of you out there with little to no intelligence, I don't actually think the tsunami was a conspiracy, hence the sarcasm. Nothing more than a natural disaster. Don't flame me, mkay?)

Though I too agree that the tsunami's huge death toll was simply the result of a whole lot of bad circumstances coming together, that article gets me thinking--Perception equals reality out there.

America's recently been labeled as imperialist and aggressive, especially to folks in the Indian Ocean littoral countries. To a lot of people in a lot of countries, the USA seems to be the 'bad guy.'

People often want to blame someone or something for bad things happening. Though God or gods are probably the most popular targets for blame, I'd bet that 'the enemy' comes close behind.
=?
Tsunami gets blamed on the USA

Hell, if someone detonated a good-sized-nuke underwater and made sure they had the only satellites that could see it...

No! No more conspiracy theories! Ahhhh!

Nah-somone bet Poseidon he couldn't make a big wave, and bet him a round he couldn't.

He did. And he won the round.

Of course you would say that to stop us thinking there is a conspiracy....
OH MY GOD! IT'S A CONSPIRACY!
GWB, the shape changing reptilian alien, along with the Pope, Ronald McDonald, Elvis and the Queen hidden in their secret lair at the centre of the Earth set of their Earthquake bomb machine to make the Tsunami on the 26/12/04 - which added up come to....42! The meaning of life (and the age that Elvis was when he 'died'), as mentioned by Douglas Adams in his crypto-codic (sort of like the DaVinci code) book the 'Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy'. It all makes sense now. Obviously they found out the new Messiah was to be born in the Aceh region, so needed to do something drastic.

It was Bush. Bush made the bet in a shrewd move to cause a horrific tragedy then respond generously and win back the world's support. Unfortunately he was distracted by something shiny and didn't follow through.

Conspired action (of men, not aliens lol) did (for a split second) cross my mind as a possibilty when I saw of the tragedy.... but I believe It's a natural disaster. Anything otherwise would be dreadfully frightening. Not saying the natural tsunamis effect on all those people isn't dreadful ofcourse.

"This happened exactly a year after Bam," said Tyler, referring to the earthquake in Iran which killed 30,000 on December 26 last year. "Is that a coincidence? And there was no previous seismic activity recorded in Sumatra before the quake, which is very strange," he said, nodding somberly.

That's a good point...

Why is that a good point? Are tests of military technology usually conducted at precise one year intervals? Have there been no other earthquakes that occured without warning?

These people think everything that happens in the world is a conspriracy. When they are late for work and they run into a red light, it's the government trying to get them fired.

I actually did that to an old friend who seriously pissed me off when I got a summer job at the County DOT. So, in some cases, that's correct.

(What? It was a government job, and I'm halfway competent. I got really, really high and finished a five-month project in two days of continuous work, 3 million under budget, and they told me I needed to find a way to spend that money fast or else they'd fire my ass.

If you don't spend all the money allocated to you, you lose the funding for the next fiscal year. Since they might need it some time in the future, government agencies who aren't as important as they used to be hire people who's entire job is to hire consultants.)
