I know word games are spam. So what?
I don't like some of the discussions going on here. I choose not to participate. I actually will not even open the thread at all if I don't like the topic..
What an odd consept.. If you open a spam thread and find Spam Why should you be surprised?
A word to the mOds: Keep busy going after the flamers and the inapropriate posts and the really annoying stuff, and keep off my back.
Bring back word games! I like the mix of people in General and quite enjoyed playing with them. It's not the same in Spam.

They were banned for a reason.
They had no relevance and tended to spawn into spawn and also served as a breeding ground for flaming, flamebaiting, trolls etc...

I disagree. I spent ALOT of time in these threads and found almost none of those things going on. What is spawn into spawn? I don't understand what you mean by this...

I think it's because you'd end up with an entire first page of spam, since people (probably) head to them in flocks. If it had it's own forum that wouldn't be so bad, but General is meant to have discussion and... stuff.
I don't know for certain though, since I missed all the spamming and word games. I don't know what sort of dynamic went on between political discussions and spammy fun threads.

word games were just a fun thing to do.
It's neat if you get a like minded counter poster and you could have a discussion only posting one word at a time. I once flirted with a nice girl from the Isle of Mann in three different threads..

I seem to remember it caused a huge amount of bandwidth to be taken up. Thus, driving up costs like crazy.
