It's a bit early but thanx for the B-day present!!!!

This is my favourite quote in the article:
"I guess I come down more firmly in the Jon Stewart camp," Klein told The Associated Press

Does Klein mean that he too thinks Carlson is a dick?

Or this one:
"Out of respect for him and his talent, we thought it would be best to let him explore opportunities elsewhere."

There's a backhanded compliment if I ever heard one.
:D
Brilliant!!

"Out of respect for him and his talent, we thought it would be best to let him explore opportunities elsewhere."

Translation: While we generally have supported him voicing his opinions, we're sacking him for being a dick; so he can voice his opinions with some other agency....

About time, even Pat Buchanan would at least let an opponent get a word in. Hell he made Buchanan look like a real gentleman debater and Pat is a first class political street thug.

A [tag] is performed by people to move the thread into their list of subscriptions for monitoring and later posting into the thread...

Some people will [tag] the thread, because they do not have time to respond at the point they saw it... Or lacked the time to fully read the thread before posting...

This is pretty cool, though if Stewart was all-powerful in this he would also have ended Robert Novak's career (who Stewart has called Douche Bag of Liberty) as well. Time will tell.

Daily Show should be pretty funny tonight.

Jon Stewart is taking the high road! (for now)

Not one shot at Tucker the whole show. I think the worst way they could possibly insult Tucker is to be completely silent on the matter. That self important windbag probably hates being ignored more than anything else in the world.

One thing I don't understand about the whole Stewart/Crossfire controversy is that no one ever sees fit to mention how Tucker called Jon Stewart John Kerry's butt-boy repeatedly before Stewart called Tucker a dick.

Mayhaps the 'dick' comment was brought about by the 'butt-boy' comments.

EDIT:

Furthermore, I wonder if this is a sign that cable news (CNN at least) is going to start to move towards CREDIBILITY and away from vapid sensationalism. I admit its an open niche. No one else is doing it.

So that's who that loutish bowtie afficianado was...I saw some footage of him barking like a witless dog on CBC Newsworld a couple of months ago, trying to stir up some sort of Canadian-American antipathy. I thought he was just some garden-variety right-wing knee-jerk reactionary lunatic with a prediliction for shouting, not an actual television 'journalist'.

I hadn't seen this exchange before tonight. What a wonderfully refreshing program. I'd watched Crossfire occasionally in the past, but far from the program's claims to serve as a debating ground for right vs. left, I'd always found it to be an exercise in conservative head-nodding. Sort of like, 'right vs. far right'.

Mr. Stewart is a welcome tonic. Tucker Carlson is like icky cough syrup.

Go figure.

I don't know about that so much. Stewart isn't an attack dog, in fact the attack dog mentallity is part of whats frustrating him so much. Not to mention O'Rielly was on Stewart's show and the exchange was very cordial.

Part of what made the appearance on Crossfire so remarkable was that Stewart just went after the two of them, which was a bit uncharacteristic. He has taken a few guests to task, challenging the talking points to get them into a more honest dialog, but even in those there was a minumum(sp) of civility. So I don't know how remarkable an appearance on The No-Spin Zone would be. In fact, reading the article and the comments by CNNs new head I think Stewart's point has been made and is best served for now with his constant four night a week diligance at pointing to the ridiculousness of the circus that passes for news in todays culture.

You just know people are going to use this as an example of CNN's "liberal bias."
