I like the mods, I've always found them responsive and helpful in every way possible. True, they aren't always patient and can be quite sarcastic when dealing with stupid n00bs - but then...with managing such a gigantic forum as this, I think we can allow them to be :-)

I have no problem with any of the mods, and they do a fantastic job looking after all the threads and giving advice when needed.

Keep up the great work :-)

More of neutral than like or dislike. All of them do a relatively good job. Though sometimes they close threads which are borderline to me allowable. But their the mods, not I.

Maybe I'm in a minority, but I've never had the slightest problem with any of the Mods - and, they've always been prompt and effective to deal with the things I have perceived as problems... although I personally would have gone maybe a little further in one case, and a little less far in another...

Of course, SOME of the mods vie for attention with the almighty Shaed (who still hasn't posted her pics...) which is something of a problem...

What do I think of the mods? I think overall, they do a good job. Some are quick to discipline those they disagree with, and will ignore repeated flames from older members, never issuing a warning. Young nations are quickly deleted for small transgressions, yet older nations that should know better are given a lot more latitude then they should. There is some cronyism going on, but it seems to be limited to certain mods. I am sure it is a difficult job, but it is a voluntary job, so I salute those who take it up. :)

The mods have their faults, but they generally do a good job. I have questions about their motives sometimes, like the day Arafat died, and they went all willy nilly closing threads about him and deleting nations, yet the day Reagan died, there were absolutely disgusting threads and posts about him that went either unnoticed or were just ignored by the mods.

Not quite true, the first forum I modded, they asked for volunteers and then sifted through the applications to decide who they wanted to mod. Eventually that system fizzled and died, because only the idiots were volunteering, and the whole board just went to pieces... and then I left and it really went to pieces. :p

Intesting, so you don't have all seeing powers....

But seriously, that is probly the right thing, people good vote there innermost feelings and things about them on a poll and they may not want you to know that.

Are you sure? I thought he was the one who brought your name up for the next target of communist oppression.

Wait... You weren't supposed to know that. You just imagined it. This post doesn't exist.

Wait....That didn't work....

I'm beginning to suspect that if I ever start looking for women online, NationStates is not going to be a good starting place. :p

Well it's settled then. The Mod Mafia is tolerated by the brave citizens of Nationstates... now I just have to pay them protection money so I can keep my illegal still operation working...

Not quite true, the first forum I modded, they asked for volunteers and then sifted through the applications to decide who they wanted to mod. Eventually that system fizzled and died, because only the idiots were volunteering, and the whole board just went to pieces... and then I left and it really went to pieces. :p

That forum always sucked. Full of ridiculous fangirls.

I used to run a forum, but we lost control when a moderator went rogue... I got out of there just as the forum collapsed on itself.

Which one?
It was a forum on which we discussed Skies of Arcadia. It doesn't exist any more, as the owner stopped paying for it, but it was my first taste of being a mod... and I liked it. I've had a few other jobs since, but I've never done as well on a forum since that one... but like I said, I left due to the rogue mod.

Just wondering, I've done a few mod jobs, and that happened to one of mine.

Speaking as the Site Admin of another popular game website I'd have to say that I admire anyone who takes the time to be a voluntary moderator of a message forum. It's often a thankless task and a large section of the community expect you to act like an emotionless robot, never displaying your own personality or opinions. I get the occasional complaint about my own team of moderators but I think on possibly only two occasions in the two year life of the site have I ever had to reprimand a moderator for their actions towards a forum member.

Besides, Moderators shouldn't care whether you like them or not. They're here to do a job not to win a popularity contest. I like mods who do their jobs! :)

HDM forum. I founded it, got a good few members, but I couldn't cope with all the people. I let a mate have a go at modding, but the power went to his head. he was out of control. People left the forum and i shut it down.

Since then I've only modded on the RWC forums.

I'm now an admin for the Chaos Alliance, and I work for Chronosia on there.

If you are careful, power will not go to your head. It's never done with me.

Simply for posting this topic? I don't see why, unless there's some context that I'm missing.

Well, maybe, but I'm not telling. :p

My experience with them has been positive. Times I've asked them to clear up misunderstandings I have, or times there is a SNAFU in a forum I've seen, they've been very receptive and genial. Times when they need to be firm, such as when DemonLordEnigma an I got a "little" too heated (frankly we deserved whatever we would've gotten, especially me), they've been firm and fair. At least that's my perspective.
