TIN's Crackpot conspiracy theory-The Moon landing.

The Imperial Navy

Now this has been tugging at me for a while, but I know there's probably a logical theory to explain this...

http://www.planetarium.btinternet.co.uk/Society/Space_Art/Neil_Armstrong_on_Moon.jpg

As you know, Armstrong first got out of the Lander, and said his famous line, "Thats one small step for Yadda yadda". Now my question is:

WHO IS HOLDING THE CAMERA?

It's too far from the lander to be attatched to it, so the question is, did somone else actually leave the lander first, or was there never a moon landing at all?

Funny, but the Eagle had external cameras. How do you figure it's too far from it?

It was just too far from the lander-You could see the whole thing in the camera.

The camera could be attached to an external piece - it could quite possibly be.

And here I thought this was going to be about the flag ;-)

what, that theory because it flapped as in wind?

Another point of contention is how clear the pictures are, as there was no external lighting used.

and lets be honest. The moon in the pictures just doesn't look real.

and Finally, why does the horizon look so clear? we all know the moon is covered in huge craters for miles around.

Or could it be that the picture you're looking at isn't the first time Armstrong got out of the lander. It could be a Armstrong posing for a picture after Aldrin has gotten out of the Lander. It could even be Armstrong taking a picture of Aldrin getting out of the lander.

And you could look in the guy's visor to see what is reflected, and it looks like and arm of the lander

I'm thinking of the original bit where he clambered out with the speech. My picture is just an example.

In the video of the moon landing the American Flag is clearly seen flapping in the wind, despite the moon having no atmosphere and hence no wind.

But I pretty content with the idea that the US government wanted a flag flapping in the wind because it would look nice and so they engineered a flag with a few springs and such so that it would flap in the wind.

Being a Cynical Agnostic, I guess until I see undoubtable evidence I will not believe the moon landing happened. There's just too many questions right now.

I quess you have to go and see the footprints yourself then. Start saving now :)

Yeah... I'd do what Fry did in Futurama, and stamp it out.

Having just looked at the moon landing video and images of the lunar module I do believe it would be very easy to mount a camera on the side of the lunar module to achieve the angle that is seen in video.

Oooh did you know that there almost wasn't a video of the moon landing? Due to the timing of the moon landing the signal had to routed through a small satelite dish in Australia. And due to a mishap the dish was misaligned and all of NASA was freaking out because they thought the team in Australia wouldn't be able to find the signal again in time before Armstrong had landed on the moon.

Hmm... Well you did notice I called the thead "Crackpot" theories, so I'm not taking this too seriously, but I'd just like to see proof, thats all.

A conspiracy theory? And i wasn't invited!!

Hey we've already uncovered this one its the Moon Natives that took that picture as a way to remember how primitive the Earthlings were.......

Well.. it is indeed possible that the whole "small step for a man, first step on the moon thingy" was just as spontaneous as those shows in which the quizmaster rings a doorbell and tells the completely surprised residents of the lucky house they won a few million. Which we can hear quite niceley since the residents are already wearing a mini-microphone on their clothes..
Though I assume the camera was mounted on the lander or on an independant vehicle that moved a few metres away.

The flag in question was indeed specially constructed to wave without wind. After all, a limp flag doesn't look good on pictures.

People, the pictures are of BUZZ ALDRIN, not Armstrong!
Armstrong was holding the camera!

Let's also remember that there was equipment already there ahead of time. A pre-set base area, and that camera was (if I remember correctly) held by the lander.

The camera was on a mechanical arm extending from the lander was it not?

The flag ripples in the wind as it was made of aluminium and was folded to look like it was in the wind.

The sky is so clear because it is common practice to remove stars from scenes like that so that you concentrate on the surroundings.

I am sure that there are toher reasons

Sorry, it was a bad attempt at humour.
