North Carolina Papers Pound 'Shameful' Democrat Election Thieves

North Carolina's newspapers, even the two big liberal ones, are outraged about the sleazy attempt by three Democrats to steal an election for their party.

Note that out in Washington, after the state's Democrat establishment sued Democrat-misruled King County, which then mysteriously coughed up enough extra "ballots" to take the gubernatorial election from GOP winner Dino Rossi and hand it to Democrat Christine Gregoire, Dems oppose a new election. Yet on the East Coast the opposite has happened.
In the race for agriculture commissioner, the Charlotte Observer notes that the Democrat-controlled North Carolina Board of Elections appears "bent on keeping Republican Steve Troxler from winning an election he was leading and almost certainly would have won if 4,438 missing Carteret County votes had been properly recorded Nov. 2," and is "about to disenfranchise 3,330,107 North Carolina voters by exchanging their legitimate votes cast on Nov. 2 for newer ones from as few as 10 percent of the likely voters - meaning that instead of 4,438 votes not counted, there could be something like 3 million votes discarded."

The state's second-largest paper, the Raleigh News & Observer, agrees that the Dems refuse to allow a new election limited to Carteret County because the GOP nominee surely won there and would win again.

"Certify Troxler," the Winston-Salem Journal urges.

"It's obvious that the Democratic majority on the state board is willing to do [losing Democrat incumbent Britt] Cobb's bidding, even to the extent of using parliamentary trickery to order a new election," the Jacksonville Daily News points out.

The "shameful charade" being pulled off by the three Democrats, over the objections of the board's two Republicans, will "soak the taxpayers for $3 million the state doesn't have," the Charlotte paper fumes.

And Democrats wonder why their party is vanishing in the Carolinas and the rest of the South.

Heh, you yanks.

Seems you cannot run an election that looks fair and honest, where everyone who wants to can vote, and have their vote count, and where the courts are not needed.

Perhaps some international observers are required to assure that your elections are actually free and fair.

The UN perhaps?

Yes, we at the UN require bribes - I mean payments - in advance to support our election monitors. We will also funnel money into our bank accounts - I mean give money to help feed the poor while we are there.

$3 million is peanuts. What's the deal, is North Carolina a state of paupers?

No, but the Democrats have ruined the State budget by funding all sorts of programs without any concern about the future costs.

Isn't that the American way? Look at the US federal government!

Bush won't be President forever, and we'll have a better leader. As for the 'American way', I'd rather live in America than some other country. North and South America are better than Europe, Asia, and Africa. Europeans tend to be quite arrogant and forget the fact that they started two world wars, set records for genocide, and have the longest record for oppression of outside nations in worlds history. The US invades Iraq to put a madman out of power, and barely any Euro nations help. Most sit back and criticize us for not going through the corrupt UN. The UN has China, one of the worlds biggest threats to peace and democracy in the world, on the security council!
Europe criticizes, but tries to forget their countless crimes against humanity, that would take the US scores of years to beat, even in our meanest mood.

So how about we stop hearing praises about Europe, the continent most guilty for the world we live in, and the thing doing the least to fix it, and a little more support for America. We had to come in and end both world wars, seperating the European countries like they were spoiled children.

Ok?

You forget America inherits the same European attitude for death and destruction. America speaks European languages, uses a European version of Judiac/Christian religion, uses Roman-style capital buildings, still uses Latin, etc

As for China, yes it is far from a democratic but then the US has shown it's democracy is flawed as any other. China is a new-emerging superpower and deserves a UN membership.

The US has been in very active in the "War on <Whatever>" for the last 100 years
War on Drugs (and you're losing)
War on Nazis (World War II)
War on Communism (Cold war, Vietnam war, Korean War, Afghanistan)
War on Terror (Iraq x 2, Afghanistan)

America spends like it had unlimited money and it reflects in it's politics (local and international).

Not OK. What has your inaccurate historical lecturing and stereotyping got to do with Europe's standard of living, which is, in most places, equal to or better than the USA's?

Do you realise that many of us also consider the USA to be one of the world's biggest threats to peace and democracy?

Go eat your "freedom fries".

PS... Removing Saddam wasn't the original reason for the war. This was:

Can't you Americans, you "beacons of liberty and democracy", run an efficient election? What's so hard about counting votes? You are all so viciously, hysterically partisan that you are paranoid enough to think that the *other party* *must* be stealing the election.

No, but the Democrats have ruined the State budget by funding all sorts of programs without any concern about the future costs.
So it's OK when Bush does it but not these guys?

Oh, you poor foolish person. No one stole Ohio. The only state stolen was Washington, where the governor office was stolen. Go back to sleep, man.

If the US has to intervene in the world today, whether it feels it must to solve international terrorism, or to aid victims of a tsunami who could have been warned had they possessed a stronger infrastructure, it is largely because the US has had to wander unassisted through the complete chaos left behind by European colonialism (yes, there were instances of American adventurism and meddling, but these pale in comparison to the large scale map drawing and chaos-inducement performed largely by the Europeans).

Some Soviet adventurism, but there again, not on the scale done by Europe.

And I don't see Europeans stepping up to resolve the chaos, except to shoot unarmed protesters in the Ivory Coast. By all means, protect French citizens, the French-controlled "independent" government of the Ivory Coast, and protect the chocolate - but kill even the unarmed en masse.

The roots of Islamic terrorism and civil war slaughter go back to French Algeria, so no one should be surprised by this.

Well we for one helped create the largest democracy on the planet. What have you done lately?

Let's leave the Euro-colonialism bashing in the creche, shall we? Remeber, were it not for colonialism the USA would not even exist.

I mostly agree with you on this one, but keep in mind that very few Europeans alive today are proud of our colonist past.
