I play Dungeons and Dragons (dd) and i wanted to know what characters you would be

The choices are
Barbain-The character with the most health. Can go into rage increasing constitution and strength but lowering AC and later is fatiged. Gain slower feats the a fighter

Bard- A mixture between a soceror and rogue. Can sing songs with various effects

Cleric-A divine spellcaster that has mainly healing and supporting spells

druid- A protector of nature. Must be some kind of neutrality. Can wildshape starting at level 5 and specializes in offensive spells with some healing and support spells. Has an animal companion

fighter-gains and additional feat every 2 levels. Starts out with heavy armor proficiency. No magical abilities

Paladin- A mixture between a fighter and cleric. Has healing hands which heals equal to the charasma*2. Minimul spellcasting starting at level four. Can become fallen and loose magical abilities.

Ranger- A jack of all trades. Mostly a cross between a druid and fighter or druid and rogue. Has an animal companion. If wearing light or no armor recieves feats amberdexerty and two hand fighting. Spellcasting at level four.

Rogue- The oddball class. Has the highest skill points per level. Sneak attack damage if the melee a flanked oppenent dealing 1d6 per level. Magic using skill (Forgot what it is called) and special rogue only feats.

Soceror- Innate spellcaster. has a familiar. Spellcasting bonus with charisma modifier and has a limited spell book but can cast the spells up to the limit

Wizard-The largest spell book. Must copy spells from scrolls destroying the scroll. Gains feats faster the soceror. More spell selection then soceror but less usage per day. Must select a speciality and give up other schools (unless the special school says otherwise.)
schools:
divination
evocation
necromancy
abjuration
conguration
Wizard-No bonus spells of the school but gives up no schools
Wild- My favoriter school :) Spells have a % chance of using a random effect.
for example a magic missle might also produce a color spray :) no one knows what will happen

I've tried playing other characters, but I always fall back to good old fashioned Fighter, because that's how I solve most problems in real life: through violence.

...You play D&D and call it "DD"? It's either "D&D" or "DnD", I've never heard anyone ever say "DD" before. And I'm a druid. Second favourite class is sorcerer.

Back many years ago when D & D first came out, I use to play with my boys and their friends. My personal preference was Ranger. :)

Rogue, and if the campaign is long enough, shadowdancer. That assumes an all-around campaign, depending on the DM I might go fighter/shadowdancer.

Eh, I play too, sometimes.
I have a policy of resuing a specific character until it dies... call it a lucky tradition.
And so far the current character I use has lasted 3 years.

She (I RP it as a girl, wvwn though I'm a guy, for something different) is almost always a Ranger-Rogue cross, specifficly set up for sniping.
Very fast, accurate, and agile. In some games she's had the ability to put over 24 arrows into a single target per turn.. and deal alot of damage, from anywhere she can see.

So, basicly that, a Ranger/Rogue combo, usually split to give the greatest advantage in accuracy, speed, agility, range, and stealth.

If you are talking about ver. 3.5 I usually play Elven / Half Elven Rangers... but have done Rouge, Cleric, and Sorceror for the following reasons

Ranger... Duel-weld kicks ass.

Theif ... Three words... Sneak Attack Damage!

Cleric ... Walking artiliery Pieces (Spells tend to do better damage than comparable Wizard spells... and few monsters are immune/resistant to Divine spells.)

Sorcorers ... Energizer... they keep casting... and casting...

I've played damn near everything. But for the few months that I've owned the Expanded Psionics Handbook I've wanted to be a Wilder. Because Tetsuo kicks ass.

Back in the ooooooooooooooooooold days when I used to play (in the late 70s right about the time that AD&D first came out - I still have the original TSR manuals around somewhere) I used to play a Ranger quite successfully.

Frankly though, I always felt that the combat system designed in Runequest was far superior to D&D, it was just always harder to find people to get a game together when D&D was all the rage.

Well you are wrong about bards: They are more like Illusionist (Wizard specializing in illusions) and Rogue without sneak attack. Back in AD&D they were Soreceror/rogues but the designers changed that in version 3.0 .

Cleric-A divine spellcaster that has mainly healing and supporting spells

You forgot he is a fighter with less Bab (you get full armor proficeincy like fighter but simple weapons)

druid- A protector of nature. Must be some kind of neutrality. Can wildshape starting at level 5 and specializes in offensive spells with some healing and support spells. Has an animal companion

fighter-gains and additional feat every 2 levels. Starts out with heavy armor proficiency. No magical abilities

Ranger- A jack of all trades. Mostly a cross between a druid and fighter or druid and rogue. Has an animal companion. If wearing light or no armor recieves feats amberdexerty and two hand fighting. Spellcasting at level four.

They changed the ranger in 3.5. Now he has a choice of Ranged attack or 2 weapon fighting feats. But he lost HD 1d10 to 1d8.

Rogue- The oddball class. Has the highest skill points per level. Sneak attack damage if the melee a flanked oppenent dealing 1d6 per level. Magic using skill (Use Magic Device) and special rogue only feats.

Soceror- Innate spellcaster. Like Wizard has a familiar. Spellcasting bonus with charisma modifier and has a limited spells known but can cast the spells up to the limit

Wizard-The largest spell book. Must copy spells from scrolls destroying the scroll. Gains feats faster from class unlike the soceror. More spell selection then sorceror but less usage per day. Can select a speciality and give up 2 other schools (unless the special school says otherwise.) But you don't have to specialize.
schools:
divination
evocation
necromancy
abjuration
conguration
Illusion

I am a druid
I like a Monk, Rogue, and currently a Psion (Psionic spellcaster like a Sorceror but less spell per day although can cast in any armor but not proficent in any armor)

Once a Ranger, always a Ranger. I've always played Rangers and Clerics, but have a preference towards Rangers.

I once saw a method for taking yourself and turning it into AD&D stats, but I've long since lost the link.

Clerics rock.

They're the second to best spellcasting class. They have the widest range of healing and support magic.

They can fight. They can wear armor.

And they can turn undead monsters to dust so fast it's not even funny.

I'll play a cleric of pelor anytime. Smiting foes with divine fire rocks :D
Cannot think of a name

I'm apparently a bit generic in that I normally played rangers back in the day.

Eventually I started to get in to the 'story' of the character, like-

A soldier who wakes up on a battlefield with no markings and amnesia.

A reindeer herder who follows a reindeer that gets away from the herd, assuming the herd is just over the hill he quitely follows him and gets in 'adventures' along the way.

The most complex: A member of royalty in a small kingdom with a tradition of having members of royalty go out in the world and make their name. When they go out they are sent with a member of the clergy who record their deeds. The problem is that this royal is more interested in agrarian societies and moving his culture forward. The clergy gain prominance in their church by having been assigned to a particularly adventurous nobel, and this one is very ambitious so he creates trouble for the nobel to get into. I know that's two characters. I tried playing both at once but having arguments with myself didn't wash so I split them up.

I was a lot more into that than the class they where.

Ranger, or Ranger Mage ( I don't play with the 3rd ed / D20 system rules ) I've been playing table top/ PnP RP's for almost 30 years. Play a lot of different systems, a number of heavily modified D&D or homegrown ( of late ).
