At the risk of sounding terribly politically incorrect, the world is involved in a wasteful orgy of contributing enormous sums of money for an event that killed a lot of people who will never be brought back, no matter how people feel or how much money they contribute. The damage is largely within a mile of the coast and you either lived or drowned. The hospitals are not crowded with the injured. Those who survived are now living with relatives inland and not sitting on their ruined homes waiting for rain soaked sacks of wheat to be delivered by our military. Are the enormous sums of money being raised to be used to rebuild the hotels or develop condominiums now that the beauty of the beaches has been publicized? The world has been caught up in something that more clear thinking individuals should suggest caution.
Am I an inconsiderate spoil sport? Give me your thoughts. Gee, I sure hope the two stranded dolphins are saved by the Greeks. I wonder how significant a disaster this would be if there were not a lot of pictures of blond blue eyed Sweedish children who lost their parents.......

The point of the aid isn't to bring back the dead, it's to help the families of those who died. Simply going to live with someone else isn't usually enough. What about cases where the father of the family was lost and the wife and children are unemployed? They will need aid to get by. What do the 'clear thinkers' suggest they should do without aid?

What's the count at now, 100,000 dead? Some people may not feel as bad about disasters in other races but numbers like that really transcend emotional gaps.

What's the count at now, 100,000 dead?
Some reports by the BBC are now saying over 200,000 are dead (not including those who are missing) :(
153,000 dead and counting.
Did you ever think about those who lost there homes and everything they own? How will they feed themselves? Think man!

*gives chaseington the look*
hmmmm
millions of people lost EVERYTHING. they are left with nothing but what they are wearing
hundreds of thousands of homes have been destroyed
the livelihoods of millions have been destroyed
many many thousands of bodies have to be buried/burned, most before they can be identified by relatives, in order to ward off epidemic diseases.
the destruction of whole neighborhoods and villages means that the sanitary facilities that were in use are now no longer in existance making typhoid a huge threat.
massive amounts of debris must be removed.
basic infrastructure such as rail line, roads, electrical lines, etc have been destroyed.
people in remote areas have no relatives to go live with, no way to get there, are perhaps loathe to leave the spot where their lost family members might yet be found alive.
millions need food, water, shelter, clothing, sanitary supplies, medical supplies
and all of this is in countries that were dirt poor to begin with
and they need AID?

You said something...noble-ish I guess. But you phrased it poorly.
People, like the scandals of post-9/11, some of this money is being syphoned off from its intent. In the panic to rush aid to those in need, much of it is diverted by shameless opportunists all along the logistics trail between the contributing nations and those in need.
However, I do not suggest in any way shape or form that we should not give aid for fear of this; rather I would ask for investigations both during and after to ensure that aid is not misappropriated en route.
Your aguments that all of those effected are already dead is sheer folly however; those costal areas still exist and they need to be rebuilt and the dead buried; otherwise a medical crisis will come out of the natural disaster.

What happened with that tsunami doesn't really hit you until you meet people who lost their homes, their loved ones, and the lives they once had. Not until you look them right in the face and think about what they must have gone through. I know that really well: that's what it took for me to realize that.
I had the chance to meet an all-girl band from the affected area after marching in the Tournament of Roses Parade recently. Our band and theirs only shared a few words with each other: "hello," "congratulations," "may we trade pins?" "may I have a picture?" and, what hit me hard, "tsunami." We all knew what "tsunami" meant, and it was then that I compared what it meant to me and what it meant to them. To me, it meant an earthquake underwater, and then a wall of water; to them, it might have meant watching their uncle who they were visiting drown or watching their father or mother get hit by debris carried by the waves or cradling the limp and lifeless form of their best friend in their arms.
The last thing anyone should have to worry about after that is food.
Money will help to save another 100,000 that would be doomed from disease and lack of supplies. Only idiots give away money to try and make people feel better about their family and friends dying in such massive numbers. That would be like giving all the Jews collectively 350 million dollars and just saying, "forget about the holocaust, we promise it won't happen again." It's disgusting.
What's the count at now, 100,000 dead? Some people may not feel as bad about disasters in other races but numbers like that really transcend emotional gaps.
It's up to 170,000 and counting :( :(

No, not politically incorrect, but humane/compassionately/considerately/altruistically incorrect - yeah thats a big 10-4.
I wonder how significant a disaster this would be if there were not a lot of pictures of blond blue eyed Sweedish children who lost their parents.
I don't know what pictures you are seeing but you know where I am there's not a single one of that sort being shown.
Do you have the imagination enough to put yourself in their place? Might keep you from sleeping a few nights...
9/11 was no comparison:
9/11- 3,000 or so dead
Recent tsunami- 170,000 and counting; +missing
Please do not think that 9/11 was not bad, but this tsunami is hundreds of times worse

Yea uh, I acually did not write this, it was e-mailed to me and I found it interesting. I do not believe that no aid should be sent but there should deffinatly be someone to make sure that this aid money is used properly for the purposes intended and not for condo's. The best way for this might be for charities to be recieving the money instead of the governments. But I also dont know how much money will be needed and with every country in the world sending enormous amounts of money it looks like there will be an excess that could be used for the condo's or taken by the governments.
Therefore the attack on the IQ of the writer were very unappropriate and not serious and for the person who is questioning the persons mind about the blonde haird seed's you have not been watching the news closely especially for the week after the tsunami hit.

Not joking here - but I wouldn't be awfully suprised if some World Leaders didn't claim that terrorists had caused it...

Why am I even bothering to translate this stuff? Oh well.
Not condoms; condominiums (or however the hell you spell that). He's worried that people will build expensive housing with money ment to reconstruct their nation...which I normally would assume includes housing those who live there.
