Who is your least favorite apostle?

What with the recent popularity of religious topics, I thought I'd raise this one.

Mine's Peter. He was an ass, and he hated Mary (and the other women).

Tony, the patron saint of Cowboy Builders.

BTW, am I the only one who reckons that Peter could have been in on the whole betrayal thing? Judas was just a pawn, man. It was Peter who gained from it. He got a damn church, got to choose which gospels got into the bible, got set up for life, really.

I'm thinking Peter set the who thing up, pinned the blame on Judas (his stooge), and then, after conveniently denying Jesus 3 times in his hour of need, goes on to declare himself the first pope. Conspiracy, man.

Peter has the most attention of the 12. Don't think I have a least favorite apostle.

But Peter seems to be the most human-like, Doing all the bad things. And always being condemned. :p

He's a bad mofo (trying to cut of roman's heads *Which the roman ducked and it chopped off his ear*), and probably a nasty smelly guy. What can you expect from a fisherman? But he is perhaps the 'least' thats why Jesus kind of have to correct him the most. But he was revered the most at the end. :)

The least shall be greatest, vice versa eh?

Oh, and I figured, everyone loves Bartholomew and ... er... those two other dudes, so I left them out.

<< Why was Peter an ass? >>

Trying to cut off the Romans' heads, getting real mad at Jesus for kissing Mary, saying the women shouldn't be allowed to travel with them. One theory is he liked Jesus as more than just a devoted disciple, and was jealous that Mary seemed to get that kind of attention.

Peter an ass? Hell lots of reasons. :D

not only that Dornae described, but he did deny Jesus 3 times, after so haughtily telling Jesus that he'll go to the ends of the world.

Lots others.

I think he even asked Jesus that him and his brother would sit at his right and left side in the kingdom of heaven (I think, must double check).

Plus he did got scolded by the voice from heaven as well. When he suggested that they'll build a tent for Moses, Jesus and the other prophet guy on the hill where Jesus prayed before Jesus was taken by the romans. :p

I have NEVER liked Peter as an Apostle. He always came across as a man who hated women, who never understood Jesus's teachings about love and who always ended up being the one who brought on the hate in any given situation. It does not at all surprise me that the historical Church (HIS idea, not Christ's) espouses intolerance and condemnation rather than love and compassion considering that Peter founded and shaped it rather than Jesus himself. I still find myself wondering why exactly Peter chose to follow Christ considering his values and beliefs seemed at complete odds with the teachings of Jesus.

Judas; thirty gold coins? He didn't even try and get a better price. Clearly he doesn't understand the complexities of supply and demand markets and is therefore of no relavance in the modern world.

Judas was an OK guy, really. I mean, the whole point of Jesus coming down to Earth was for him to die, so if Judas hadn't betrayed him that wouldn't have happened.
