I laugh at them! They insult us, we were just setting out the money we had available to the victims. We had to dig deeper, the US now leeds in money donations! Following with 250 mill. is the World Bank. After the US, the second leading nation, is England, with 92 mill.

Wow! I thought we were the stingy ones! That UN guy can shove it up his ass! Get this! Spain gave them 68 mill. ITS A LOAN! How pathetic! A first world country! There economic growth is higher than the US's and Englands, and they are giving this third world disaster area a loan for tens of millions of dollars. I will say again, Europeans are stingy.

Thank you for furthering the already close bond between Europe and America.

The point is, they started it.

As a Briton, stfu, your country's nearly 3 times as big as ours (solely in population). Most people I know, including me have donated to the fund, and I live on £75 a week, including rent and bills.

I have another sarcastic comment.

Hooray for petty nationalism during a time of great crisis!

What difference does it make how much money individual countries give anyway. I am sure each nation is giving what it can afford. Australia is giving far less than the US too, but we don't have the economy they do.

for pete's sake, the far more important thing is that the money, no matter where it comes from, gets to the people who need it, the clean up gets finished and rebuilding started as quickly as possible. I am very sure the survivors of the disaster really don't care whether the food they are eating was paid for with American or European donations.

I have seen all kinds of people insulting America for being stingy on these forums lately. Now I am right and you are wrong.

You only say we have a great econemy when it is conveniant for you. At other times, when your in a "Lets hope America dies soon!" mood you say our econemy sucks.

Once again, aren't you as guilty of using sweeping generalisations just as your "supposed" opponents are?

Grow up and realise that people who say things as retarded as that are either being sarky buggers or are generally ignorant.

No, you are. Firstly, you are wrong in believing the US was specifically targetted. the UN person said that ALL western nations were stingy, and didn't specifically target the US.

Secondly, you are wrong in having this "our collective penis is bigger than yours" attitude when there is a greater problem at stake.

Excuse me, when have I ever said things like that about the US?
Links or quotes would be nice.

Please don't accuse me of things I have never done. I am not in any way anti-American, and have stuck up for them on this board (under various nations), and on other boards I post on.

I have seen many threads here, started by both Europeans and Americans blasting each other for all sort of real or imagined slights, but this one takes the cake. I state again, it does'nt matter where the money comes from, and that goes for anybody, American or otherwise, who is trying to score points for themselves over this tragedy.

Yeah, you cant believe that.

Especially when more than half of Europe hates us.

Yes, of course we do.

I personally went round all of europe yesterday, I asked everyone.

Half of them hated you.

/sarcasm

Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean they hate you.

I can say you're wrong and still think you're a decent guy.

The US has a population over 4 times larger than that of the UK, at 293 million vs 60 million. The US has a GDP more than 6, almost 7 times the size of that of the UK, at $10.99 trillion vs. $1.666 trillion (2004 est). These figures do not vary based on what someone is arguing, they are simple facts.

If you really want to get some kind of fair pissing match over this subjects, you'll have to use GDP percentages. If someone who only has 10 bucks gives 1 dollar to charity, he would be considered less stingy than someone who gives 10 bucks out of 1 million, would he not? Similarly, if the US (as a whole) donates 6.6 times as much as the UK, the two are equally stingy.

Personally, like many others who have responded to the thread, I don't think the actual amounts are important, and certainly not something there's any point starting these kinds of moronic threads about. But if you're going to be a flamebaiting moron, at least try to be a slightly less biased flamebaiting moron, OK?

Surely the point is not how much your nation gave, but how much you gave?

When will this stupid pissing contest end? America has given along with the rest of the world. Can we just bury the horse before it starts to really stink up the place.

They're wasting their time. Gelatin-based glues are the "near-beers" of huffing. Tell them to move to a xylene-based glue. ;)
